Interesting for this Top 8, and an interesting lead-in as we move towards the end of 2011, is the non-presence of format stalwarts Solar Flare and Green-Red Wolf Run.

Eh, not that interesting that there was no Wolf Run in the top 8, since there were still five in the top 16.  The difference between a top 8 deck and a 9th-16th place deck isn't so great that you can conclude that Illusions must be better than Wolf Run right now.

Did the author of this article even watch the video for the first decklist?  Notice how Jansen says at about 8:10 that most people think there is more control in this deck but really it's a black red deck splashing blue.

Then, in the authors explaination.
"For one, this is a blue-black deck splashing red, not a black-red deck splashing blue."

Come on. . .

Umm...he specified that video was about the deck at worlds, not the one he talked about here.  What he said 100% corresponds to that video, since it is a black-red splashing blue, whereas the deck in this article is quite clearly blue-black splashing red

I've been underestimating Olivia Voldaren . I just thought she was kinda cute with Wooden Stake . Regardless, Red Deck Proliferates is still my top standard choice.

But if your hand is already strong, you can save Desperate Ravings for another time; you don't have to cast it, just because you have the mana.

I'm such a pro, I've been not casting Desperate Ravings for years now. ALL ABOARD THE VALUE TRAIN!

Interesting build on the Delver. I have been playing UR Delver for a couple weeks with pretty good results. No Snapcasters tho the first one is getting shipped to me next week tho :D
anyhoo, anyone wanna elaborate thoughts on this build? interesting that he chose not to use Noble I think, and that satchel and making use of ravings is pretty sweet. a little cut on the burn to make room so im a little skeptical...also, main board psychic barrier? hmmm. i wanna tweak my deck a little bit for tomorrow, could someone recomend some good choices to go in my UR delver without snapcasters? lol

Yay for Olivia and Grixis control! Olivia cannot be ignored! I'd still love to see a new competitive vampires tribal build. Maybe Dark Ascension will bring what's needed. I'm guessing Bloodline Keeper is too slow at this point and dies too easily to Volt Charge before you can even make any vampires.
