I guess there has to be a Tribute to Hunger or Geth's Verdict in the deck, right? I didn't add one to my list, but i noticed i'm needing it.
I lost several times to a Wolf ramp today, everything was fine, no tits alive, dead solemns, geist flame + galvanic to the nexus... until HE came... Thrun, the Last troll killed me before i could burn the enemy player...
I play two SB, personally. Thrun is a big deal. Even played in mainboards
Yeah, he's really hard to beat, besides Tribute to Hunger another thing that can deal with him in mainboard is Black Sun's Zenith

Gut Shot; because it deals with T1 Birds, and is free, letting you leave counter magic up while still dealing with a manadork on T2. A lot of other plays you would have to see yourself. also, you can play it if you get unlucky and don't draw any red sources in your first turn or two.
Batterskull; Seems well positioned right now. Control can't really deal with it, and it's insane against aggro.

If you are not running Gut Shot , you are wrong. Birds, Inkmoths, Delvers, Lavamancers, Champions, Planeswalkers, there are a plethora of reasons to run this card. Heck, Gut Shot is even MD'd in decks that don't even splash red, like some Illusions decks even. It's that good. You simply can't beat destroying two of your opponent's Delver of Secrets on turn 2 with just one Gut Shot and a Snapcaster Mage .......Sure you have to pay 4 life but you just took control of the tempo of the game.
Residual energetic and psychic emenations from the spark of planewalkers going in and out of the blind eternities like it was a windmill eventually coalesced into beings named eldrazi who by their very nature could not consume mundane sources of nourishment to sustain their existence.

Funny, I suggested Gut Shot not long ago and was essentially told that Geistflame is just better for this type of build(which I am still not really convinced on). Tis the way of the world I guess.

I see, thanks for the answer, with the last 5 games i've played i realize that Gut Shot is indeed really good. I'll put it in for sure.

Geistflame is better in this deck. You don't win a tempo game, because you have nothing to capitalise on the tempo you gain from disrupting your opponent's. The freeness doesn't have the same importance as it does in decks like RDW or even Illusions, so there's no reason not to run Geistflame instead and get a bonus card out of it.
It's really not even about giving niche cards to black.
It should be about giving black cards to Niche.

Gut Shot is a better card than Geistflame against decks like Tempered Steel (which can still beat you, even if you play Slagstorms)
You'll be damn happy to have that free removal and be able to keep mana leak up
