The Wolf Run Robots deck is, I think, the best of the four, and perhaps by far. I'm not surprised to see the Delver Illusions deck, nor the red/blue tempo deck, especially since it seems good against the white-based tokens decks - they've both been in the works for a while. The blue/black Heartless Summoning deck doesn't impress me, though. I've seen people do ridiculous things like play Wurmcoil and then copy it twice...and then die anyway, to burn, Angelic Destiny, even Overrun.

Interesting. No mention of pod or solar flare variants.

"Week after week after week I find myself liking Innistrad more and more and more. This is a set that combines well with existing awesome cards..."

I'd agree with this statement, except I'd note that the DFC mechanic isn't doing any combining at all, kind of like infect in the last block.

"Glimmerpost. Four Glimmerposts. <...snippitysnip...> Playing four copies of Glimmerpost makes Primeval Titan very helpful against Red Decks and their aggressive cousins. Primeval Titan for two Glimmerposts, gaining 4. Attack, get the other two Glimmerposts, gain 8. "

Help me out here for a sec: do lands get to be played simulataneously? Ever?

I'd think it was more like
  • play Titan, play Glimmerpost1 for 1 life and then Glimmerpost 2 for 2 life.
  • Attack with Titan, play Glimmerpost 3 for 3 life and then Glimmerpost 4 for 4 life.
  • Net lifegain = 10, instead of the 12 that Mike gets

But then again, I presume that no two cards are ever played simultaneously, and perhaps I'm just wrong about that.

Well, most of them are Werewolves, which makes it a bit more complicated. Reckless Waif/Merciless Predator is seeing some play, as is Garruk, I think. And Infect just needed some time, so we'll probably have to give the double-facers some time as well.

Cards like Primeval Titan , Living Death and Explosive Vegetation make permanents enter the battlefield simultaneously. The game cannot even distinguish between which of the two enters first. They enter simultaneously, so both Glimmerposts trigger for 4 life each. If you played Living Death with two Noxious Ghouls and a Carrion Feeder in your graveyard, all non-Zombies would get -6/-6. The same goes for death, by the way. If you have a Vengeful Dead and a Carrion Feeder in play and your opponent plays Day of Judgment , Vengeful Dead will still trigger for both creatures and your opponent will lose two life. Cards like Nantuko Husk , Murderous Betrayal and Attrition don't work like this because everytime they sacrifice or kill a creature goes on the stack apart from each other.

Note: you cannot ever play two things simultaneously. Only abilities that search up or kill more than one thing at the same time work like this. Just because you have Azusa, Lost but Seeking in play doesn't mean you can play three Glimmerposts at the same time.

Thanks for that, Zindaras! The difference then is simply the difference between "playing" and "putting onto the battlefield".

One last quick aside before I let this topic remain about what it's supposed to be about: in the case of Living Death, all creatures you dig up enter the battlefield simultaneously. Does this mean that any "comes into play/enters the battlefield" abilities/effects trigger in the order determined by their controller? With the player having priority (typically the one who cast Living Death) going first?

I agree Standard seems pretty exiting right now =)
I'm glad Wizards recovered from the Fairies-Jund-Jace cycle.

Week after week after week I find myself liking Innistrad more and more and more. This is a set that combines well with existing awesome cards (Primeval Titan setting up not just Kessig Wolf Run but now Glimmerpost; Snapcaster Mage recycling Mana Leak), but it allows players to play all kinds of goofball different stuff... and it is all good!

Nitpick: Glimmerpost is not in Innistrad.

Oh hell yes: about damn time Myr Battlesphere showed up in standard.

Called it about a year ago as a Grave Titan for the other colours.  And then I waited...and waited....  Guess it just needed Avenger of Zendikar to rotate.
