Avacian priest pay 1 mana tap tap target creature.
other than summoning sickness can you play his ability as an instant (i.e.) your turn i want to use his ability. may i?

Yes. Activated abilities can be used when ever you have priority.

also 2/2 blocking a 2/2 attacking they negate and both go to GY or do they stay on field.
also a 1/2 blocking a 2/2 attacking they negate and both go to GY or does the 2/2 stay alive
because of it becoming a 0/1.

That's a common mistake, Damage doesn't give a creature -X/-X, damage is simply marked on a creature.
The 2/2's will deal 2 damage to each other and die.
The 1/2 will deal 1 damage to the 2/2 (but it's still a 2/2) and at the same time the 2/2 would deal 2 damage to the 1/2 (it's still a 1/2, it just have 2 damage marked on it).
Then when a creature has lethal damage (Damage equal to or greater than it's toughness) it is destroyed.
… and then, the squirrels came.

If you didn't know, damage also wears off at the end of each turn (if the creature hasn't been destroyed). This is unless the creature has infect (like Lost Leonin  ) but that is more complicated.
