It's still a good choice. It's simply no longer the Flavor of the Month deck.
It's also unfortunate that the current Flavor of the Month deck is a pretty horrible match-up for Flare. That's why it underperformed at States and Brisbane.

It's probably still the best control deck option at the moment. If entering a big tournament with it, you need to be prepared to beat Wolf Run Ramp, which outperformed everything at States. I have yet to play WRR but from what I have read Ghost Quarter and Flashfreeze can help in that matchup. What is everyone's take on Mana Leak in the main? I go back and forth between either 3 main or none. Here is my current list: 1 x Wurmcoil Engine 1 x Consecrated Sphinx 1 x Grave Titan 2 x Sun Titan 2 x Snapcaster Mage 2 x Phantasmal Image 3 x Liliana of the Veil 4 x Forbidden ALchemy 3 x Think Twice 3 x Doom Blade 3 x Mana Leak 1 x Dissipate 3 x Day of Judgment 2 x Unburial Rites 3 x Oblivion Ring 3 x Drowned Catacomb 3 x Isolated Chapel 4 x Glacial Fortress 2 x Darkslick Shores 2 x Seachrome Coast 2 x Ghost Quarter 4 x Island 4 x Plains 2 x Swamp SB: 1 x Wurmcoil Engine 3 x Timely Reinforcements 3 x Surgical Extraction 2 x Revoke Existence 1 x Dissipate 1 x Negate 2 x Flashfreeze 2 x Celestial Purge Prett standard list.

Solar Flare has lost the overwhelming popularity it had a few weeks ago, but I don't think it's a bad choice. My guess is that it's fallen out of favor largely because A) It's easy to hate out (especially the Sun Titan-heavy builds), and B) Straight UB Control has an easier time with Wolf Ramp. When the metagame settles down a bit more, I think it will still be a contender. "Deck to Beat"... probably not.

Then let us make it a deck to beat. I really like this deck, and it goes really well against WRR (or at least MY construct does). I have Ghost Quarters MB.

I am thinking since dropping liliana that maybe I could drop elesh norn in favor of curse of death's hold since I won't be making now ridiculous turn 4 unburial plays unless its setup by forbidden alchemy. thoughts?

pretty sure anyone who builds this deck with less than 26 lands is doing it wrong. hell, i'd want 27 lands.
Blue is the best color ever. How do you deal? To be honest I been wanting 27 but then I fear that lategame topdeck into a land. But yes 27 lands is something I been wanting in this deck as well but 26 has been solid for me here lately.

So apparently I must be hella lucky, because the land count I run is perfect. I get a land each turn, and win almost eveytime I play.
