Has anyone got a list that has actually tested well against the expected Gauntlet of the post-INN metagame?
Every list I've seen of this deck has been taken apart by most competitive options, including Tempered Steel, U/x Control (UR, UBW, UW), Bant Birthing Pod. It gets the occasional Stalker/Geist -> Sword GG draws, but when it doesn't it seems really slow and clunky.
I've been trying to find builds, but a lot of the lists online are exactly as you described. I was expecting to have a couple different viable variants for a testing gauntlet, but nothing has been insane so far.
A more promising list I played against (but didn't actually get a decklist for) was a GW version with Birds, Llanowar, Spellskite, Blade Splicer, and Etched Champ. I know that post-SB he turned into a more midrange deck (I was playing Big Red), bringing in Thrun and Batterskull, and maybe other cards I missed. He played Inkmoth and a Buried Ruin or two, but I don't know about Gavony Township. Lots of swords, though - he got down all three (B&M, F&F and W&P) in both games that he stomped me.
I am primarily interested in playing Limited and Standard. I am also interested in Magic design and development, and in the game's history as a whole.
I am a proponent of being reasonable, rational, and openminded.

I hope it's ok for me to post this here. I have my own thread about it in the Standard Deck help as well, but I'd love to know your thoughts on it. Here is my attempt at merging a Human Tribal deck with Puresteel to make what I believe to be a very fluid, aggro build that should do very well.
The objective of this build is to play fast and finish with the strong, human based equipment. The Champion of the Parish is the best turn 1 drop; with 20 humans in the deck these things get scary fast. Elite Inquisitor and Mirran Crusader are my main beats. First Strike / Double Strike is good, but throw a Silver-Inlaid Dagger / Inquisitor's Flail on them and it is downright brutal. Infiltration Lens discourages blocking, while also allowing me to get more card draw. Mentor of the Meek is my favorite card. It provides great card draw with 20 of my creatures. Oblivion Ring is the standard removal. As far as a sidedeck goes; I am not exactly sure what to use. I know I'd like some Timely Reinforcements and Celestial Purge . The Fiend Hunter seems like a wonderful side deck choice; possibily even a maindeck option.

Neat weenie list, Kala! Mind if I add it to the member deck list section?
It's so tenuous with Puresteel to find the right balance of what your creature suite will be to compliment the equipment. You have a very hyper draw build between the paladin and mentor which makes it feasible to throw in some 1-of bombs I feel. If you wanted to do a singleton Kemba, I think you'd be okay without skewing too much.
Feel free to add it to the list. I'm going to be short a few cards this FNM (in the post!) but I'll put up my results shortly afterwards!

That's exciting Kala! Can't wait. Did you intend for your list to be over 60 cards though? I'm pretty sure if I added it up right its about 62-64 cards or something.

It's an interesting tribal take on the WW Puresteel. I am just leery because you're missing some really powerful equipment. I think the deck would be okay casually, but it's not competitive. Get rid of the Butcher's Cleaver for Sword of War and Peace among other things. I like it though because it is exploring the tribal capacity Puresteel offers, and I'll put it up on the list for that matter.

You're right Jaz, as I was making subsitutions for Friday I realised I had too many. I've edited page 1 now so it should be 60 if you take the current list, I'm not all that comfortable about dropping a land so I may lose an Accorder's shield in it's place. I'll post my final Friday build when I play but I'm playing Vault Skirge's and will include a Silver Inlaid Dagger in the final Innistrad build.
Also added the Hex Parasite in the SB as it's searchable with Trinket Mage for any Gideon (or other PW) nastiness.

I was trying to come up with something to use for FNM in two days. I would have used my Tempered Steel deck but I have to wait for some cards to come in the mail for it to be standard legal. I just built this deck out of the blue. I've solitared a few hands and I think it's just okay. I need to actually play with it to find out if it's good or not but right now I dont think its tourny worthy. Lands [23 x ] 4 x Inkmoth Nexus 4 x Glacial Fortress 15 x Plains Creatures [22 x ] 4 x Puresteel Paladin 4 x Mirran Crusader 4 x Etched Champion 4 x Vault Skirge 3 x Spellskite 3 x Phyrexian Metamorph Non-Creatures 3 x Mox Opal 4 x Flayer Husk 4 x Sword of Feast and Famine 3 x Sword of War and Peace 1 x Sword of Body and Mind Very straightfoward plan. Slap down swords on Champion and Crusader and hopefully win from there.

Build I took to FNM at the bottom of the page (note some borrowed cards hehe). Round 1 - Tempered Steel (0-2) Fairly consistent losses here. Game 1 I got steamrolled in the first few turns. Game 2 I kept a 1 land hand with plenty of 0-1-2 drops but never saw another land to make it all come together. Round 2 - RG Werewolves (2-0) This guy is fairly new and the deck wasn't all that strong, even so the tokens churning out from Mayor and Garruk were enough for him to keep chumping. Not much to talk about this matchup, ended up on over 100 life from Batterskull before drawing an inkmoth finally winning with infect . note - Ancient Grudge is annoying. Round 3 - White Weenie (2-0) Both games I had Sword of War and Peace turn 3 or 4, strapped to a Vault Skirge. He couldn't punch through that lifegain. Round 4 - Puresteel (2-0) I'd been comparing my deck to his after Round 1 so this was an interesting matchup. His deck was different as it was MonoW and running 2 Batterskulls and signal pests if I remember. He ran only 20 lands and 1 mox which I told him was too few but he insisted it was fine. Game 1 he never got a WW, I cast my Mox to destroy his to keep him off white. Game 2 I had all 3 Mirran Crusaders out and eventually ground him down. Thoughts: Vault Skirge - A lot better than I thought originally, the lifegain makes such a difference in stabilising as I *definitely* found this deck I was playing to be more midrange than aggro Elite Inquisitor - No one seems to love him as much as I do! A 2/2 first strike vigilance for 2, yes please. He was never *wow* but definitely very solid The bad news is, despite the reasonable success, I just didn't feel this deck was all that good. It feels lacking without the 'combo' pieces, and even with them it's not a case of 'I win' - there is still a lot of work to go to take that win even with a Paladin and swords out. I'll continue to keep this sleeved up and play it at the odd FNM to see how I do but ultimately this deck didn't grab me in an enjoyable way the way Vampires or Big Red or UB Control did. Speaking of which I lent my friend a Big Red deck to try yesterday and went 2-1-1 with it. Big Red is fun Creatures 2 x x Elite Inquisitor 4 x x Puresteel Paladin 3 x x Mirran Crusader 4 x x Vault Skirge 2 x x Trinket Mage Spells 4 x x Dispatch 4 x x Ponder 2 x x Oblivion Ring 1 x x Mox Opal 1 x x Sylvok Lifestaff 1 x x Accorder's Shield 2 x x Sword of Feast and Famine 2 x x Sword of War and Peace 1 x x Batterskull 3 x x Flayer Husk 1 x x Silver-Inlaid Dagger Lands 4 x x Seachrome Coast 4 x x Glacial Fortress 11 x x Plains 1 x x Island 3 x x Inkmoth nexus Sideboard: 2 x x Grand Abolisher 2 x x Flashfreeze 2 x x Celestial Purge 2 x x Timely Reinforcements 1 x x Dismember 2 x x Revoke Existence 1 x x Hex Parasite 3 x x Torpor Orb

Cool stuff Kala! I'll update the match-ups with what I gather are the weaknesses our archetype is having against those decks. What was it about Tempered Steel that really knocked you off the ball? Also, how did the Silver-Inlaid Dagger work out? But congrats on the 3-1 win!
