I can't decide between two versions of a Puresteel deck I'm planning to use for FNM. Let me know what's better and/or if you have any suggestions. I'm really open to ideas. The idea is to get Puresteel ASAP and start playing super-cheap equips and swinging with flying/trample/protection creatures. Mortarpod is used for the last extra points of damage on a player or extra creature removal, it also synergises well with Kemba, Kha Regent and Shrine of Loyal Legions with Puresteel Paladin 's equip 0 ability. P.S: This deck is from only cards I own. I own no "Swords of" and I know they will take my deck to the next level... Rest assured I will put them in if i get my hands on some! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Glint of Puresteel Lands: 22 x Plains Creatures: 2 x Kemba, Kha Regent 3 x Mirran Crusader 4 x Puresteel Paladin 4 x Glint Hawk 2 x Etched Champion Equipment: 4 x Accorder's Shield 3 x Flayer Husk 3 x Darksteel Axe 4 x Mortarpod 1 x Sylvok Lifestaff 1 x Batterskull Spells: 4 x Dispatch Artifacts: 2 x Glint Hawk Idol 1 x Norn's Annex Sideboard: 3 x Oblivion Ring 3 x Shrine of loyal Legions 2 x Day of Judgement 3 x Gideon's Lawkeeper 2 x Norn's Annex 2 x Timely Reinforcements __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Glint of Puresteel (R/W Version)Lands: 15 x Plains 7 x Mountain Creatures: 4 x Goblin Gaveleer 4 x Puresteel Paladin 4 x Glint Hawk 2 x Etched Champion Equipment: 4 x Accorder's Shield 3 x Flayer Husk 3 x Darksteel Axe 4 x Mortarpod 1 x Sylvok Lifestaff 1 x Batterskull Spells: 4 x Dispatch 4 x Galvanic Blast Sideboard: 3 x Oblivion Ring 3 x Shrine of loyal Legions 2 x Day of Judgement 3 x Gideon's Lawkeeper 2 x Norn's Annex 2 x Timely Reinforcements

Run Kha in R/W and instead of Mortar Pods, I suggest Kite Shields.

Kha is a good idea, but I find it hard to say goodbye to my beloved Mortarpods...

You don't need 4 mortarpods in any deck, including a puresteel one. 1-2 should be the most u have imo.

Actually, I have been using them in casual play by equipping two, then activating them one after the other to deal 2 points of damage for one creature... I'm not sure if this is legal though... does the second 'fizzle' on the stack and not deal damage because the creature is already sacrificed? Thanks for reminding me to ask about that

Think about the card description. The creature now has the ability to sacrifice itself to do 1 dmg to a creature/player. If you add another mortorpod on top of that it still has the same ability. It is like putting lifelink twice on 1 creature. It won't make you gain double the life if you have it applied twice. Instead, you are giving the same creature the same effect twice which is redundant. So from what I can see multiple mortarpod will definitely not increase the dmg the saccing creature does.
So this means since you're running puresteel, if you have the puresteel out and any more than 1 mortarpod on the field you've got a dead card (well besides the fact that creatures get 1 toughness per pod on em).

why don't i see inkmoth in either list? also, 3-4 mortarpods are fine. You completely disregarded living weapon, meriakh. To be honest, I think the Wu Puresteel lists will end up doing the best.
Want to know how to keep a moron busy? Reread this sentence to find out!

A 0/1 creature - so its essentially only good for 1 dmg. The only way this is any good is if you're running something like basilisk collar. Then you can just wipe out the opponent's board. But since he has no collar I'm not really seeing the usefulness of 1 more 0/1 body. Sure, you can use it as something you equip your other stuff on - but lets be honest. If you want creatures to equip your gear on you are much better off w/ squadron hawk or thrun or something along those lines. If you want the 1 dmg nuke well - how about you pick up a lightning bolt or something? Not really seeing a huge benefit to having more than 2 of these guys in a deck.

To meriakah, the mortarpods are the essential equip to this deck. 3-4 is a MUST. I'm gonna echo halo's comment bout Wu. It's the best. 3 trinket mage, and 4 ponder. That's all u need besides some dudes to equip to.
My list
24 lands
4 puresteel paladin 3 trinket mage 4 squadron hawk 4 blade splicer 1 sun titan
4 dispatch 4 mortarpod 1 basilisk collar 2 sword of war and peace 2 sword of feast and famine 1 sword of body and mind 1 mox opal 1 accorder's shield
Might be missing a couple cards, but that's the deck. I run 8 U/W lands, 3 islands, rest are 4 inkmoths, and plains. 24 is fine. Gets enough for glad splicers and equips and preordains all in one turn. No need to wait around after dropping a sword and not equipping if u don't have craft yet. Mox is debatable. I personally like hawks for blocks, deck thinning, and sac outlets.
