Because they clearly dont want a tier one monogreen infect build. They would rather have the top decks run by mythics

DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB

Giant Growth is iconic.  Giant Spider has been replaced time and time again.

Stupid choice WotC.

too bad Giant Spider didn't get new Art to celebrate

He's had the same art since 5th edition... you'd think he'd get a makeover.

I am not too happy with the choice either. Seems like a shocker for the sake of being a shocker. That said, damn fine job on the flavour text. Up there with Lightning Bolt's, though of course the Spider will never see play.

Re: Daily decklist: Death's Shadow for the win! I knew it had its place somewhere, even if that place was in a suidide-black-like deck. Using Phyrexian mana to get there is ingenious, the sort of thing I wish I'd thought of. Glad it is finally getting a place in the sun. There's a reason that that card is my avatar (literally, thank you creature typing).

A format dominated by turn 2/3 kills would be unimaginably boring, so I can understand where WotC is coming from with this decision. I don't know many people who will really miss giant growth, and it's better safe than sorry*.

*Should've used that philosophy with Stoneforge Mystic as well. I mean, DAMN!

While we are at it, let's cut Llanowar Elves while keeping Dryad's Favor .  YAY!  Because, really, that is just about the equivalent of what they have done.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw it...

I'm dissapointed that Giant Growth is out instead of the spider. I've used Giant Growth in decks MANY more times than I've ever (if ever) included Giant Spider...

There's no way they're cutting Giant Growth without putting in something like Unnatural Predation . They focused so much in M11 on giving each color at least one cheap combat trick. If any color is losing its combat trick, it won't be green.

So let the speculation on the new* green combat trick begin.

*Or newly reprinted.
