Its time for New Phyrexia You're gonna make new decks-ia!
I was originally for the Mirrans, and still kinda am, but after all this, I don't really care anymore. As long as the cards aren't too OP, and feel awesome, I'm fine with it. I LOVED that trailer, btw.

I still think its bizarre they released it on a TUESDAY. You'd think they'd do it on a Monday so you can get a feature article + Phyexia theme week.
My guess is that somebody got ahold of the information and they had to hastily release the information rather than have everyone already know before the official announcement. All it would take would be one leaked card. So that's what I'm guessing happened.

Well, now the wait is on for the Karn card spoilers (I'm guessing that there will be several to at least feature him). If he has a creature card, i hope it will not be a reprint, and if not, that even if it is a Phyrexian, it doesn't have infect.
Also, did it seem odd to anybody else that Urabrask popped up after Karn rather than with the Praetors? Probably just my Magic conspiarcy theory alarm going off in my head for no reason, but i hope that means something postive, for those of us who don't really like the feel of Phyrexia.

This war has been a lot of fun. I think it was well-planned and executed. I'm glad they did the reveal suddenly like this, it caught me by surprise. I think most people guessed the final set was going to be New Phyrexia because bringing back the Phyrexians is a big deal and having them take over an iconic plane sets up the conflict for subsequent blocks, but a lot of storytelling depends on willing suspension of disbelief. I think the players who didn't like it just had a fundamental conflict with the premise of having the storyline intrude on the marketing and tournament events, but I think that helps make the storyline relevant. I liked the "Weatherlight Saga" more than the storylines of the next few blocks, and I think Scars has done an even better job of telling a story.

Has anyone taken note of the secondary voice in the promo video? From what I can hear...
"All is not as it seems, the struggle is far from over. (They're) consuming our world, the infectors will become the infected. The heart of Mirrodin burns! Now we are one. Karn is coming. The/Our saviour." It was all in a humanoid voice.
Does this beginning of this mean that the war isn't over yet or that the Mirrans survive but the Phyrexians move on to a new world? (See Elesh Norn's flavor text)
Thoughts/comments?

You have to take that along with the Phyrexian dialogue. In particular;
Beneath Phyrexian skin, the heart of Mirrodin burns. The body is whole, but whispers splinter the mind.
That would suggest that although Mirrodin is gone, but the Mirrians have some sort of influence over the Phyrexians themselves.

But what if you were to completely separate each side, though?
"The Father of Machines is coming. Destroyer./Karn is coming. Our saviour" What if Yawgmoth is back, finally? Karona said she ran into him... That, and what if Yawgmoth/Karn is different than what was expected and now the Mirrans and Phyrexians band together? O.o Sword of War and (Peace) anyone? Urabrask is called the Hidden One, and so is Yawgmoth... hmmmm...

Personally I would have loved it if they announced it on friday since it would have messed with people and would have been funny.

Personal theory is we'll get little infect this pack so you shouldn't worry about that. I mean think about it, the flavor of it was that phyrexia was corrupting Mirrodin, and now that it is done, it doesn't fit as well. I also think this is why we got so few infect cards in Besieged, they were giving the archetype support it would have missed out on from the 3rd set.
When I was looking around after the announcement I found this little quote over at mananation
Phyrexia Announces Total Victory
The Machine Orthodoxy today announced total victory for the forces of Phyrexia and the utter obliteration of all that was Mirran.
“The Great Work is Complete,” said Grand Cenobite Elesh Norn. “The stain of imperfection which is Mirrodin has been scourged and in its place we have shaped the face of New Phyrexia.”
Jin-Gitaxius, Praetor of the Progress Engine, Augur to The Core continued, “The raw flesh we have at our disposal will allow us to continue The Great Synthesis unabated. Our destiny lies outside the crude battles between slavering beasts of which we have endured these many years. Through our experimentation will arise the strength of New Life.”
Other prominent Praetors were also in attendance. The Voice of Hunger, Vorinclex, took a defiant tone. “The struggle for survival is never complete. Wherever there is weakness, there is still the necessity of conflict. As the predator cannot abide prey, so do the strong feed upon the strong. Our purpose has only begun.”
Sheoldred, The Whispering One, declined conspicuous comment.
Praetor Urabrask was notably absent from the proceedings.
Clearly he doesn't like the others. Add on the fact that he is Red, the color that least agrees with Phyrexian ideals, clearly the odds are conflict is high. It's safe to say their are still Mirrodins left, I mean we saw some in the trailer. I think the infectors are the infected is talking about the divid that was created. We know that the access to different mana has changed, or infected, them from within. The heart of Mirrodin could mean Karn has come to and is going to fight against phyrexia or that those that remain fighting for mirrodin will fight until the end.
I do find the "Now we are one" comment interesting since the "All Will Be One" has been the mantra of the Phyrexians from the get go.
