Have mercy on me for asking this, but I just want to make sure: Ethersworn Canonist  Does it's ability apply to the turn it's cast and every subsequent turn, or just the turn that it's cast?

It is a static ability which means it is always active while on the battlefield unless something else stops it. Essentially, players can only play one non-artifact spell a turn.

I really think that ability could be worded in a clearer fashion.
Something like?
The maximum number of non-artifact spells each player may cast during each turn is one.
edit: actually this is hard to template clearly
