I am testing Mimic Vat in Fae and I have to say it's pretty good there.
End of turn play Mistbind Clique and choose not to champion anything... Dies and I put it under my mimic vat....

For the rest of the game, during your upkeep I will Vat in a Mistbind and Champion any Fae in play to keep you locked out. Good times.

So you want to tap three mana at sorcery speed, then let your best guy die on purpose? Seems a little win more if it works, and terrible most of the time. Just play the clique, then beat for like 3 turns and win, seems better than having a 4/4 you never get to attack with.....

I too have Mimic Vats (2) in my Fae build, but I haven't really tested it since I got them some months ago.

Perhaps they aren't needed, as that list that won the Extended something-or-other didn't have any. It even only had 1 JTMS.

JTMS shouldn't be in fae. Scion is much better, as is JAce.1, for faeries at least.

The good rule of thumb is that if you are playing extended check to see if mimic vat is in your deck...  if it is then good, if its not then you need to add mimic vat to your deck.  :p

Aside from the fact that mimic vat decks aren't successful.

This proves it, I was wrong to consider Mimic Vat in Fae

In other news, I went 3:2 with Poly-Omen at the Indy PTQ. This is a disappointment and a success. It's a disappointment because I wanted to win, or at least top 8. This is a success because I didn't have a well prepared sideboard... which was entirely my own fault.

I am actually quite interested in starting some work on a Mimic Vat build, definitely including black, and possibly splashing in another color depending on the deck's needs. There are a ton of creatures I would love to stick on Vat:

Fleshbag Marauder
Liliana's Specter
Skinrender
Grave Titan
Phyrexian Rager

It's too slow, plain and simple. What's worse is that mimic vat has so much splash hate already in the format that it's not even a sneaky or hard-to-remove threat. Pridemages, Pulses, Cryptics, Sovereigns all make mimic vat pretty terrible.

I was actually thinking more like Vat/Ball Lightning or Vat/Fulminator or Vat/Rage Forger

Running Flamekin Harbinger/Mimic Vat/Nova Chaser this Saturday at a local deal.
