from my messing around yesterday, i was definitely in approval of splashing white in the UB shell for day of judgment, oblivion ring, gideon, and boarded timely reinforcements.  mana base wasn't really that much worse off, only in situations where my oppoenent drew a lot of early tectonic edges (which would happen regardless, so i don't feel too bad).

I tried an Esper build in my early testing for this meta, and I just found it was a less consistent version of U/W control. Yes, you get to keep Memoricide in the SB and Inquisition of Kozilek is great, but other than that it's mostly U/W control with a vulnerable and inconsistent mana base. I liked the deck more than U/B because when it worked, it really didn't have any bad match-ups, but it only worked 60% of the time.

I'll be running Venser control this week instead of U/B. I ran into: Vamps (0-2), Kuldotha Red (2-1), Infect (0-2 landslide), and RDW (1-2) last week, and that is just not a meta that U/B can do well in consistently.

Also thought of this U/B invisible blade

4 darkslick shores
4 drowned catacomb
4 Inkmoth nexus
12 island/swamp
Land [24]

4 invisible stalker
4 snapcaster mage
4 solemn simulacrum
2 liliana of the veil
2 grave/wurmcoil/consecrated sphinx
Creatures/Planeswalker [16]

4 mana leak
4 ponder
1 dismember
3 doom blade
1 go for the throat
3 sword of feast and famine

This leaves 4 open slots to wait and see what else comes out ...

I definitely don't think Liliana of the Veil goes in this deck. She needs a list built around her to be effective, and we can't afford enough slots to make it work.

Snapcaster Mage will likely be an auto 4-of in any blue control deck, U/B included. He's just ridiculously good with things like Mana Leak or Doom Blade .

I think a slightly more aggressive build with Mindshrieker might be viable, depending on what new card draw we get in Innistrad. Right now that's the biggest question mark when talking about the classic draw-go control style. All we currently have available is Ponder , which isn't exactly awesome in U/B.

card draw will likely go back to "normal" for decks like this or traditional UW (aka, divination ).  not sure if this deck will even truly survive.  i'd think going either UW or something else isn't just better.  what will black even have that'll be worth playing over white stuff with rotation?  mainly, discard is what helps black out in UB and all the good stuff is (probably) going away.  i'm pretty sure despise isn't carrying the deck.  dismember means pairing anything else with U is probably just better.

i'm putting my money on UW control or something UW/x carrying the traditional U/x control torch.  realistically, it was inquisition of kozilek and a need for memoricide that kept UB control alive, if you ask me.  otherwise, W is just superior.
Blue is the best color ever.  How do you deal?

Talking with Kedi, I don't think blue adds anything to B/x Control post-INN. Currently, it's Mana Leak, Preordain, Jace, Sphinx.

Sphinx is replacable, since there are plenty of other top-notch six-drops. Mana Leak isn't all that needed, I think, you're only running 4 now. Preordain and Jace both roll out.

Thinking BR is the new Control colour post-rotation.

Liliana, Chandra, Phoenix is your engine. You have stacks of removal, Grave Titan and Reaper and Inferno Titan as wins, Koth if you want it. Draw, Tezzeret's Gambit, which works great with the ladies aforementioned.

It should be about giving black cards to Niche.

4 x swamp
4 x Creeping Tar Pit
4 x Darkslick Shores
3 x Island
4 x Tectonic Edge
4 x Drowned Catacomb

4 x Preordain
4 x Inquisition of Kozilek
4 x Mana Leak
2 x Doom Blade
2 x Go for the Throat
1 x Into the Roil
1 x Vampire Hexmage
4 x Vampire Nighthawk
2 x Stoic Rebuttal
1 x Dismember
2 x Mimic Vat
2 x Phyrexian Metamorph
1 x Memoricide
2 x Black Sun's Zenith
1 x Grave Titan
1 x Wurmcoil Engine
1 x Consecrated Sphinx

Any suggestions? I really like metamorph and mimic vat in the responsive builds. Its cool to be able to steal a late game drop from my opponent, and then kill it off. Dropping double titans for 3 is cool too.

And mimic vat is just perfect for these colors. Even if they catch you without a counter, youre always ready to turn the tables on them with a kill.

It could probably be made better though.

I don't really think Chandra and Phoenix are better than Mana Leak, Snapcaster Mage, Sphinx, and whatever card draw comes out of INN.

If Pyroclasm and Lightning Bolt weren't rotating out, I might think BR was good, but I just don't see it.

slagstorm would likely be regarded as better in the new meta.  bolt leaving sucks, sure, but since you still have dismember and a lot of quality black removal, its probably not necessary.
