Hey, everyone. I'm incredibly new to MtG but I'm really loving it so I  thought it was about time I created my own deck and started attemting to  play some Friday Night Magic. The only problem is I have only played  against one other person who is also new so I don't know if this deck is  really up for the challenge. All suggestions are welcome, including  possible sideboard suggestions because so far I am not sure of a good  way to select those cards. Also, my artifacts aren't all very fitting  with the theme but I don't know of many vampire themed artifacts so I  was wondering if I should even have any artifacts at all.

1 x Prophetic Prism (After playing, I realized how carelessly I threw a  pointless card into my deck so this is more filler at this point than  anything)

I am also beginning to realize that my creatures are kind of a jumble. Many of the other decks I have looked at have three or four of most of their creatures. I'm not sure if this is better than how I have put my deck together so tips on that would be very helpfull too.

Just played BR vamps tonight and went 2-1-1. I'll post my list later, but it was pretty basic (except I pack a lot of artifact hate in my SB).

Round 1: UW Golems
Was playing this kid who really didn't know what she was doing. I don't think I have to explain this match.

Round 2: MBC
This was a really close match. Game 1 I got flooded by lands and he had 2 Abyssal Persecuters with a 3rd in hand. Game 2 I got him pretty low on life and he cleared my board. I top decked a lightning bolt and he had no Spellskite in play. Round 3 was just ridiculous. He Memorocide d my Kalastrias and later (when we were top decking) he Sugrical Extraction ed my Lightning Bolt s (he had pretty low life and didn't want the top deck like last time). He made a misplay with a Mimic Vat , not getting his Crusader when I was at 8 poison, but it wouldn't had mattered since I drew a land (he Vatted my Bloodghast so it would've come off) and then a Throat.

What I noticed is that I had a bit of trouble with his Spellskites. My burn wasn't strong enough (even though I have 2 Flame Slash es MB, I didn't get any of them). I also had a lot of trouble with his Persecuters when I didn't have a Gatekeeper in hand (or a Throat). Because of the high use of Throats, we have very little answers to big artifact creatures (I MB 3 Doom Blade s, 2 Throats, and a Throat in SB). I had a similar problem playtesting against an elf deck with Myr Superion s.

Round 3: Caw-Blade
This match is the main reason why I'm posting. Game 1, he got a bad hand, and I ended up decimating him. Game 2 he got a Leyline of Sanctity and wiped my board, but I was still able to race him until he got out a Batterskull and I couldn't get the Crush in time. Game 3 we went to time, but I made a HUGE misplay and didn't Duress him early enough, allowing him to get out his Leyline. I had a Kalastria Highborn , Vampire Lacerator , Bloodghast . and Viscera Seer with a Gatekeeper of Malakir and bolt in hand with him at 10 life. If he didn't play that Leyline it would've been game. He wiped my board after, I believe, and then he got me in a temporary Gideon Jace lock, but I had a decent board and got through is. We hit time and ended up drawing.

Leyline is the only real threat with Caw-Blade that we have to worry about (Batterskull is a little too slow to get us if we're quick enough, and we can just discard it or kill the Mystic or Token). I really actually enjoyed this match. Was pretty challenging and even.

Round 4: W Quest
I HATE this match up SO MUCH. Ok well Game 1 I Duressed his quest, but he got a Batterskull out before I could kill him. Game 2 he cracked 2 Quests and equiped his Crusader with a Batterskull and Sword of Feast and Famine. I killed his Batterskull, but his Crusader just raped me.

I would really like to have some help with this match-up as I always lose to it unless they get bad draws.

My first change will be to replace the Flame Slashes with 2 Crushes, before comments are made.

Bloodlord of Vaasgoth, a new M12 spoiler. 5cc, a 3/3 with Bloodthirst 3, and whenever you cast a vampire spell, it gains bloodthirst 3. I love the card, but I don't think the deck can afford the mana cost. I though it was worth putting it on the table though.

It's not the cost, per se, it's the fact that it doesn't actually do anything when you play it. It's like Anowon the Ruin Sage; he's five mana but his beneficial effect only accrues when you play the game for even longer. 

Agree. They should really just reprint nocturnus. This new vamp lord is a waste of a mythic rare slot.
