What I meant was, there was a Swans Combo deck in TSP/LOR Standard. It utilized the TSP land with Dredge, in order to keep blasting the Swans repeatedly. It also used the TSP land with Transmute, to find the other land. Then you just had to get Swans and Assault into play without either being removed.
The upside was that you could run things like Thoughtseize and stuff to defend itself while setting up the combo. The downside was that you had to run a ton of tutors, such as Beseech the Queen in order to set up the combo. Cascade is somewhat more handy.

Moral of the story... Serra is the kind of angel you marry... She's very loyal and always there for you both to attack or block. BSA... Well, she's the kind you call up every now and then to do all those things Serra won't do on some random Friday night.

There were others - this one was just the only one that mattered.

Today, I thought of something that we may have to pay attention to, if nothing else then because it's neat and cheap - something lots of people could want to play.
4x Treasure Hunt 4x Seismic Assault 6x 3cc cascaders 46 lands (preferably enough filters to reliably go t2 Treasure Hunt -> t3 Assault, and 4x Reliquary Tower (though colourless hurts))
...yeah.
You basically mulligan aggressively until you find a Hunt or a cascader, then draw tons of lands as well as either an Assault or another Hunt (or cascader), in which case you go again.
It fizzles when you hit an Assault without having enough lands to kill your opponent.
It's probably too slow, though, and it can't afford to have anti-creature defenses for obvious reasons. It loses to counterspells, for even more obvious reasons. It runs the risk of fizzling. I probably wouldn't play it myself, but it seems like the type of deck that Mike Flores would go crazy over. He, and everyone else so inclined, can do so in the thread I made for it in the Deck Help section.
Just wanted to put it out there.
AF79.
Use Lightning Storm, people will try to pithing needle seismic, and you just roll out the storm instead. And also, it's easier to cast, making life with reliquary tower better.
Manlands and retrace spells give you other win cons. Forcing a control player to pitch his hand via Raven's Crime before you combo off can be nice, even if it does slow you down.

I think B/W tokens and Kithkin will be the big decks in the new Extended simply because of the synergy between Windbrisk Heights and the big Eldrazi like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn . Cast is play , right?
I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.
I would like to see takes on a number of archetypes likely to see play in the new format. Studying up on these archetypes - and the cards that will make them tick - will hopefully help everyone fine-tune their decks for the coming Extended season.
A fine goal to be sure, but I just want to make absolutey certain that everyone understands just how sson 10th Edition and Time Spiral block rotate out - 1st October 2010. This new Extended format, with those sets, will exist for exactly 92 days. So I am a little concerned that you say you want to help everyone fine-tune their decks "for the coming Extended season", but then go on to mention in your posts the following cards, all of which will not be legal in the coming Extended season:
Magus of the Moon Keldon Marauders Tarmogoyf Story Circle Grove of the Burnwillows Karplusan Forest Brushland Horizon Canopy Treetop Village Mystical Teachings
Basically, only those attending Pro-Tour Amsterdam will be playing this format while 10th and TSP are legal - if your local situation is such that you are going to play a ton of Extended between July 1st and September 30th then that's fine, good for you - but I just worry that it's slightly misleading to suggest that Magus of the Moon, Tarmogoyf and company will be relevant to "the coming Extended season".
Again, I stress that if you do plan to play a lot of Extended in the 92 days this format will exist then that's fine, I just don't want anyone to be confused and go out to buy Damnations, Ancestral Visions, Teferis, Dralnus, Extirpates, Akromas, Wraths, etc, that will have a shelf life of just 12 weeks.
Anyway, I must also address the person who, earlier in this thread, put Repeal in his Faeries list- that's Ravnica block, you won't even be able to play with that between July and September!
Umm.. werent the pain lands in tenth?
I agree though, cards need to be found to replace those in current decks, or new deck types to be developed.
Yes, they were in Tenth Edition - and Tenth Edition is rotating out with Time Spiral and all those other cards on 1st October this year, as I stated at the start of my post.

Seems that this forums is twice as dead as pre-neo-extended, haha. Anyways some other decks that would be worth testing would be B/W and G/W tokens. Both decks had good results in Lor/Ala blocks.
Also, does anyone have any tournament results?
Of course I'm sure I've gone mad. The little man who crawled out of my eye was quite clear on this.
It's dead until October. The cost to getting into extended right now is still prohibitively expensive, and I know a ton of guys at my shop who plan on starting it up once the broken crap like goyf rotates out.
After the rotation, I don't think Fae is going to be as nasty as it was back in standard. Demigod/BBE/Fallout shells already wreck such a scheme, and adding fauna shaman + Vengevines into the mix makes it turn into a blowout.
