Shocklands are kind of what I consider at the heart of the extended format, losing the whole fetch-shock manabase will just turn it into standard really. Also, this makes shocklands pretty much worthless now, and legacy even less accessible......
Exactly my thoughts as well.
I sold all my beta-revised duals back when the recession started cuz I needed some serious cash. Under the impression that all was not lost, atleast I could play with shocks for several years to come in extended (1 beta dual almost got me a comlete playset of shocks). Guess Im an idiot. Now the price of duals will probably go up even more if people start fleeing to legacy. Which equates to a double loss on my part.
Also I would like to personally thank Wizards for prematurely obseleting 3 tournament viable extended decks that I just built.

Almost as if theres a format called standard for that.
Also shocklands are less then the current fetchlands
Or for players who want to expand beyond standard?
And my lgs sells shocklands and Zendikar fetchlands for around the same cost. In a few cases, shocklands were a little more expensive.

I like the change...I do think cutting Ravnica is a big mistake though. I honestly think that if they kept that in, even for another year, people would be much happier.

Agreed. Granted, I only have the smallest smattering of shock lands (and wasn't planning on using them when I got into Extended), but they'd probably have a lot less backlash to deal with.

possible decks for superstandard(calling it extended is mean and untrue.) RDW/Rg Jund/jund mannequin/jund hastey beats UGB mannequin? 4 color mannequin? WG/BW tokens 5cc? Fae WW Scapeshift? Some sort of bant deck with goyfs finks with some sort of NLB port? Ub teachings UB/x/x teachings

I have T2 Jund and may just port it. I'm going to pick up 4 bitterblossoms tomorrow, though, since they'll be $30 each again soon.
So when UR Delver came out to win a GP, did Christian Calcano email/call you and thank you personally, or was there just a mutual understanding?
