hmm, I would say that Ogre Cleaver is a must-run in just about any limited deck in this format. Cleaver on any evasive or trampling creature has a tendency to end games awfully quick, and at worst you can usually at least force your opponent into bad trades with it, or just drop it for two and watch them squirm trying to figure out how to not lose to the thing even if you never actually equip it. Anyway, rant on the Cleaver aside, I think I'd go WU in the first pool and WG in the second. My personal take on ROE limited is that it's more about building a deck with specific win conditions in mind than it is about simply having a stack of strong cards on a decent curve; in that sense I think these two pairings offer the greatest number of different paths to victory. My final builds might have ended up a card or two different, but some rough lists: Deck 1: Spoiler:
Show
Enclave Cryptologist Hada Spy Patrol Halimar Wavewatch x2 Kor Line-Slinger Champion's Drake Dawnglare Invoker Venerated Teacher x2 Makindi Griffin Kabira Vindicator Totem-Guide Hartebeest Frostwind Invoker Soulbound Guardians Ulamog's Crusher
Narcolepsy See Beyond Eel Umbra Eland Umbra Ogre's Cleaver Pennon Blade Gideon Jura Nomad's Assembly
Deck 2: Spoiler:
Show
Caravan Escort Knight of Cliffhaven x2 Wall of Omens Dawnglare Invoker Aura Gnarlid Daggerback Basilisk Wildheart Invoker Kabira Vindicator Soulbound Guardians Pelakka Wurm Pathrazer of Ulamog Gelatinous Genesis
Guard Duty Smite Puncturing Light Ogre's Cleaver Warmonger's Chariot Growth Spasm Snake Umbra x2

I had a similar pool to your first in my first pool. I expected levelers to be good; they were better. I didn't play my blue with multiple wavewatches; I probably should have.
I would have gone WU with the first pool.

BDM seems to really undervalue his equipment. Here're my tries:
First pool: 0: 10x island, 7x swamp 1: enclave cryptologist, guul daaz assassin 2: champion's drake, deprive, eel umbra, hada spy patrol, 3x halimar wavewatch, narcolepsy, see beyond, last kiss, null champion, ogre's cleaver, prophetic prism 3: 2x venerated teacher, 2x bloodrite invoker, pennon blade 4: lay bare, bala ged scorpion 5: frostwind invoker
Second pool: 0: 9x island, 8x mountain 1: forked bolt 2: deprive, enclave cryptologist, 2x halimar wavewatch, 2x kiln fiend, warmonger's chariot 3: lavafume invoker, lust for war, rage nimbus, 2x staggershock, tuktuk the explorer 4: domestication, soulsurge elemental 5: drake umbra, 3x mnemonic wall X: reality spasm, 2x heat ray

Hey, I was at that Brooklyn Gamers pre-release too! Nice event, seemed to run with a minimum of fuss. And home-baked treats for sale! I went 2-1-1 with a Sarkhan the Mad/Tiktuk the Explorer deck with lots of removal and counterspells.

It's not something to write a check on, but I really felt that it was possible to come back from almost anything. I snatched more than one game from the jaws of defeat, playing past the point where some would have shuffled up for game two; once by finishing leveling Wavewatch and dropping Drake Umbra on him and the other time by locking down his monstrous board (Ulamog's Crusher, Pennon Blade + 2-3 other creatures) with Dawnglare Invoker.

I went 3-2 at the prerelease, but I wasn't to happy with my deck. Yesterday I won a draft with a deck packed with R/G Spawn token generation and efficient green creatures. Bramblesnap as well as Lavafume/Wildheart-Invokers made the tokens deadly, Pelakka Wurm and Hand of Emrakul used them as mana. My favourite game ended on turn 5: Turn 1 - Forest Turn 2 - Mountain, Opponents EOT: Spawning Breath Turn 3 - Broodbirthing, Sac the tokens for Hand of Emrakul, Forest, Boar Umbra Turn 4, 5 - Attack
