OMG I just figured out who this is!!

I realised that I had stared at every part of the card (I print-screened the image and saved it) - the mana cost, abilities, artwork, frame etc... but I couldnt remember its name. So I looked. And thought "I wonder how we will pronounce it..." and then it hit me.

"Kozilek"

"Kozi"

"Cosi"

Y'know, the merfolk god, as referenced on cards like Cosi's Trickster and Cosi's Ravager .

Now I am going from memory, but... 3 gods on Zendikar, worshipped by the different tribes/cultures, with different names. 3 Eldrazi in the artwork we have seen already (posted earlier in the thread, with Sorin and Nissa in the foreground). And the Merfolk god's namesake? An Eldrazi that has abilties linked to card draw and milling - i.e. blue!!

Quest for Ancient Secrets (blue quest) puts your graveyard back in your library. Ior Ruin Expedition (another blue quest) lets you draw cards.

So what about the others? What can we work out about the other Eldrazi? Will this be a cycle of Gods, with corresponding abilities?

Anyone fancy reading through the Planeswalker's Guide to Zendikar for religious references? I think its alllll in there...

That makes no sense to me.

If they spelled the ability out on the card in full then it would not be allowed in a mono-black Commander deck, but because they used a keyword to save space it is allowed?

Yup, just like you can have Birds of paradise in a mono green deck but not Noble Hierarch . YAY COLOR IDENTITY

I love this description. Like the cows are sponges filled with milk. I can see it all Nick Parks claymation-style with the cow's eyes bugging out momentarily as a giant farmer squeezes it like a squeaky dog toy, and milk shoots out of it.

the "milling" ability is actually antimilling, which has been both blue and green traditionally. and you're conveniently ignoring the sacrificing permanents ability, which has been both white and black traditionally. and you're ignoring the fact that the "milling" related ability is probably just an over the top safeguard against reanimator.

Good catch on the Cosi into Kozilek, it would make sense from a flavor standpoint.  So we finally meet the 'Elder Gods' of Zendikar, to whom even the mighty vampires bowed down.  This well definitely turn out to be a very interesting set as well as destroy the casual metagame I have going with my friends.   The question is, did these Eldrazi originate on Zendikar or were they merely kept prisoner by the rampant mana?  I'm guessing the Roil was the key to their imprisonment, regardless.  I find myself more excited for this set than I have before, with the combination of story and gameplay mechanic.

I can't wait for the story here.

Potential Eldrazi Names, or derivatives of those names:

Cosi, from Cosi’s Trickster and Ravager, from the original Kozilek
Ula, from Quest for Ula's Temple
Khalni, from Khalni Gem
Nihil, from Quest for the Nihil Stone (Although Nihil could just refer to the sinister nature of the stone)

And I have a theory about the Eldrazi myself, namely that they are the accumulation of the power lost by the Planeswalkers after the Dominaria Cataclysm.  As Nicol Bolas said, “We were gods once”.  It would also explain the plainswalker-esque card design, although that could just be a decision made to differentiate colorless from artifact.

Also, I call first colorless planeswalker.

Anyone else seen "The Usual Suspects?" Because once Rise of the Eldrazi is out, I'm going to be beating down with Keyser Soze.

you think there's going to be a colorless planeswalker in rise of the eldrazi? or you're calling that they're going to eventually print a colorless planeswalker? because the latter isn't a very impressive or difficult prediction to make.

Makes sense to me, AND backs up my theory of there being Eldrazi gods of zendikar.

I had a post at the release of WWK stating my belief of Kamsa and Emeria being the same Eldrazi God, Cosi would back this up to make a duo, possibly a trio.

@Guest47423553 Well, kozilek looks more like the left Eldrazi on that picture... the only problem is that he (she?) doesn't have those weird thingies flying over his head

I'm just annoyed that Japan gets Gideon outside of the book before the rest of the world does.
