Nice article! Somehow I keep forgetting about (the very abusable) Ceaseless Searblades. The Crusher/Selective Memory combo is obvious but nonetheless quite exciting.

Heh, whereas I'm the other way around: Ceaseless Searblades was pretty much
the first thing I thought of back when Lavaclaw Reaches was previewed, whereas I hadn't thought of Countryside Crusher at all for Selective Memory. (I don't like Selective Memory - I'm very Johnny, but not generally into the kind of Johnniness that involves removing all your spells for the rest of the game, except perhaps for
Enduring Ideal
. In fact, the prospect of opening Selective Memory disappoints me so much that I haven't bought or opened any WWK boosters yet since the prerelease.)

Multiple triggers from a Turntimber Basilisk can often result in a Plague Wind, since a simple Scatter the Seeds can force three creatures to block the deathtouching creature.
Deathtouch wouldn't allow you to destroy more creatures than the basilisk's power, so the result is usually not similiar to Plague Wind.

Unless you have Life and Limb, Conspiracy, and Earth Surge out, thus making the Basilisk a Saproling Forest with +2/+2, and able to deathtouch two more creatures!

Or, y'know, something like
Vulshok Morningstar
, or
Primal Bellow
(which is actually really scary in a Saprolings/L&L deck).

When Selective Memory
was previewed, I already knew I didn't want it. Guess what I opened in my fat pack? Now I don't know what I'm going to do with it, and I don't know anybody who wants it.

Why not just play Leveler

I've gotten one too, but you know what? It isn't the end of the world. Every set has it's crap rares.

Because Leveler doesn't leave you with a library full of lands for you to use all these awesome combos.

Ditto. Selective Memory needs thought on how to get it to work.
Going Spike ain't going to help one see how cards like this are useful.
