Sterilizing Automaton Artifact Creature - GolemWhen Sterilizing Automaton enters the battlefield exile all cards in all graveyards.X, : Put an X/X mutant creature token onto the battlefield, where X is the total power of all creature cards exiled with Sterilizing Automaton."This thing wasn't nearly as useful until those strange specimens started inexpicably showing up every morning." - Tevalia, Gene Splicer2/1
So, I thought this up in the Simic contest. It was questioned whether or not the rules could determine what X was in the ability cost for this card. I was pointed here for solutions/polishing.

This absolutely works, though it looks rather undercosted. Sutured Ghoul proves that total power is a countable quantity, and cards like Bargaining Table prove that X in an ability cost can be an external variable. There's nothing wrong with it. Except, 2/1 for 2 is on the curve already, and the ability is very very powerful if you're lucky, churning out X/X for X every turn. I'd either make the dude bigger and more expensive, or add "Discard a card" to its cost. Regardless of all that, it works fine from a rules standpoint.

Cool, thanks. I debated for a while on the cost. I figured I would entice early play and early use. If you wait too long (especially with the trend of super efficient creature Desecration Demon ) its ability would be unuseable. I might have undercosted it though. Although having seen sutured ghoul, it looks like your right lol.

Compared to Lord of Extinction , yeah.
Clever deduction Watson! Maybe you can explain why Supergirl is trying to kill me.

Adameve Endo-Order
Creature - Demon Human
Ability - Demonblood 2 (Each demonblood can be use to assign a set of -1/-1 counters to target blocking creature. When Demonblood is at 0, this creature is exiled.)
You may cast this creature spell as a Demon instead, if you do, this creature is a 1/5 Demon with Defender. At your upkeeps, give another creature you control a -2/-2 counter. Creatures removed from the field are exiled instead. 2/2
P.S Should I tried to replace large blocks of text description with an ability? Someone told me that I cannot create a player-friendly card if it has too many terms and condition to make it worthwhile.
I think I want to create a set for this mechanic, so I can use made-up abilities to polish the bits and bolts for a card like this.
There're more things I want to introduce along with the mechanic using other cards, things like returning creature back to the Library, things with Hellish flavor.
I'm also curious to see Black with cards like this that exile themselves when they died and maybe other cards with them, so it could seem like they went to Hell after being used. So the price would be they get exiled, and this cripples Black's ability to do reanimate strategy. And these sub-demons would help unleashing the exiled creatures.

There is much text for a single card. Have you considered using some sort of "transform" mechanic? Also why use -2/-2 counters? The most prevalent counters are +1/+1 and -1/-1 and the only card to use -2/-2 counters in printed Magic is Ebon Praetor . Adameve Endo-Order Creature - Demon Human Adameve Endo-Order enters the battlefield with two demonblood counters. Remove a demonblood counter from Adameve Endo-Order: put a -1/-1 counter on target creature blocking Adameve Endo-Order. If there are no demonblood counters on Adameve Endo-Order, exile it. 2/2 Adameve Endo-Order (transformed) Creature - Demon Defender At the beginning of your upkeep, put two -1/-1 counters on another creature you control. If that creature has 0 or less toughness, exile it. 1/5

Thanks for helping me with this, I will use -1/-1 counters, there really is no reason for me to use -2/-2.
I'm a bit reluctant to use the transform mechanic though, because I like to play transform cards a certain way, I like to use the sleeves I use for my deck on the cards with transform mechanic. I just put a dice with the correct counters on the creature if it transformed so I won't have to pick the card out of its sleeve and flip it, I avoid doing the flip because I'm afraid to damage the card.
It probably would become an issue when I'm playing with people in the local shop, so far I only play Magic with my close friends and my brother.
Can you maybe point out a few suggestion to make the card more balance? I noticed you edited "target blocking creature" to "target creature blocking Adameve Endo-Order"
Also do you think most people would allow me to not flip the card and just use dice to indicate its flip stats? I haven't played with anyone outside our little circle so I wouldn't know. I won't be avoiding designing transform card if I know I'm not the only one playing it this way.

The reason I wanted some sort of "transform"-like mechanic was a memory issue. How do you remember that this creature is a 2/2 Demon Human with demonblood counters or a 1/5 Demon with -1/-1 counters (from other sources perhaps) on it? Yeah, I had changed the targeting restriction to a creature blocking Adameve Endo-Order instead of an arbitrary blocking creature. I felt that the flavour of the mechanic was more a creature-faces-creature one instead of target-anything one. Feel free to change it back if you don't like it. "Remove a demonblood counter from Adameve Endo-Order: put a -1/-1 counter on target blocking creature. If there are no demonblood counters on Adameve Endo-Order, exile it." If you want to make it "more balanced," perhaps add a mana cost to activated it instead of just removing demonblood counters. " , Remove a demonblood counter from Adameve Endo-Order: put a -1/-1 counter on target ..." See cards like Barbed-Back Wurm / Flowstone Salamander / Godo's Irregulars / Knight of Dusk / Lesser Werewolf Sorry, I do not know what most people would prefer.

Thanks for providing answers for balancing the card. Here're a few more cards in the same theme. Eden Puretic Creature - Adameve Human
This creature has all creature types in addition to being a Human creature
Pay 1 life: You may transfer power and toughness between other Human creatures you control in the form of 1/1 counters. If Eden Puretic was sacrificed by another creature's ability, remove all Human creatures you control and place a 6/6 Adameve Horror token with Intimidate under your control.2/1 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Enchantment Whenever there're 3 or more Black Human creature under your control, Demon cost less to summon.
Demon doesn't have creature ability.
I need word fixing so it doesn't sound like player can only transfer one set of 1/1 counters when they paid 1 life. Welcome any suggestion (:

Eden Puretic Creature - Adameve Human Changeling (This card is every creature type at all times.)Pay 1 life: If both targets are still legal as this ability resolves, put X -1/-1 counters on target Human creature you control and X +1/+1 counters on another target Human creature you control. X can't be greater than the first creature's toughness. When you sacrifice Eden Puretic to another creature's ability, exile all Human creatures you control. Then put a 6/6 black Adameve Horror creature token with intimidate under your control. 2/1 Enchantment As long as you control three or more black Human creatures, Demon spells you cast cost less to cast. Demon creatures you control lose all abilities.
