pretty sure im doing this loyalty ability wrong and I suck at rules
-1: Until your next upkeep, permanents you control have protection from the colors of permanents you control.
Is there a wording for this that would make it apply to creatures that come under your control after the ability is activated? As worded, it doesn't protect those creatures, right?

it doesn't protect those creatures, if I recall correctly.
You can say:
Until your next upkeep, permanents you control and permanents that come under your control have protection from each of the colors of permanents you control.
I think that about covers it, borrowing from Echo wordings. Do you want it to count colorless? I don't think this counts colorless as worded, just an FYI.

Am I wording this ability right?
Look at the top five cards of your library. You may exile two of them face down. If you do, target opponent may choose one of those cards at random and cast it without paying it's mana cost, then you may do the same. Exile the rest.
I want you to look at the top five cards of your library. You can choose to exile two of them face down. If you do that, then your opponent can cast one of them for free. Regardless of their choice, you may cast one of them for free. Now you either exile the remaining cards, or you exile all the cards (if you didn't put any of them face down).
You may want them to be able to "play" the card, to include interactivity with lands.
Otherwise, it appears to be worded correctly.

Thanks for the help! I was hoping that lands would be a dud card, that way you can pick cards that your opponent can't play (or you too, if you're unlucky).

Alright, I was trying to make a burn spell that could actually be relevant in commander when I came up with this:
Escalating Explosion deals X damage to target creature or player. Repeat this process for each positive whole number less than X.
Basically if X was 4 this would deal 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 damage but I don't know how clear are rules-accurate my wording is. I know there must be a better way to convey this but I can't come up with one. Anyone have a suggestion?

Well, one option that's a little different is X(X+1)/2 damage. A tricky way to say it is:
When you cast Escaling Explosion, copy it X-1 times. Escalating Explosion deals Y damage to target creature or player, where Y is the number of spells named Escalating Explosion on the stack.
I think this way is best, as long as the card is a sorcery. It could have reminder text saying (If X=4, one copy will deal 4 damage, then one will deal 3, then 2, then the original will deal 1.)

That certainly works. I'm a little leery about refering to the stack though.

Escalating Explosion deals X damage to target creature or player. Repeat this process with X being one less until X equals 1. (For example, if X=3 then you deal 3 damage to target creature or player, 2 damage to target creature or player and 1 damage to target creature or player.)

Why is it named Escalating?
Choose up to X target creatures or players. Escalating Explosion deals 1 damage to one of those targets, then repeat this process X-1 times, except increase the damage Escalating Explosion deals by 1 each time.

Why is it named Escalating? ....
The name is a holdover. My first version dealt more damage each time, not less.
