I was just curious everyone opinion on counterspell do you think they should bring it back or keep it outta standard because it's to good
personally i think blue really needs it with red getting lightning bolt, white having paths, black having doom blades/hidious ends/deathmarks/terminates ,and green having giant growths and primal bellows not to mention fogs

i think its more along the lines of green having great sable stag....
but i digress, i've been wanting counterspell or a reasonable substitute reprinted in worldwake for months now. i think blue is getting some more decent cards, but we shall see

i would love to see some CS that doesn't suck. tho ATM i don't really think a 1for1 just for the sake of tempo would matter that much as cancel doesn't see play, and with jund being 60% of the meta, flashfreeze doesn't see play either. it might matter in extended, but i doubt it. they could safely bring back CS in m11 then rotate it in m12 if it warps the meta. and that's what i'm loving about the new rotation schedule. magic is closely related to an MMO. not the same but it shares some charicteristics. rotation is like the next expansion for WoW. there's more levels and suddenly you're not the god you once were. you can't build one deck and have all the power. you need to keep up to the new boss, or kill him in one fell stroke. keep finding the better equiptment, the epic mount, the best spells. and we get to do it with our friends. that was the one thing i always loved about blue. it wasn't about dominating the board. it was about control, and that one solid finisher going all the way.

if lightning bolt, terminate, and path to exile aren't too powerful to be printed, then the same is true of counterspell.
I'd rather have mana leak right now, it's more splashable.
I want everything

People would complain a lot if Counterspell was reprinted, regardless of whether or not it's "too powerful" in the Standard environment.
A good aggro card is powerful, whilst a good control card is overpowered.

Counterspell is far too powerful. And with Wizards apparent desire to draw in newer players to the game, they won't want to put them through the hell that is having their Hellkite Overlord or Progenitus countered for 2 mana.

I wouldn't complain. I would be more happy that everyone else stopped complaining. Personally, I'm indifferent to whether Counterspell itself gets reprinted or not. Does blue need some better countermagic? Signs point to yes. Especially now, I guess, since blue is so out of the picture that a card that turns a land into an Island is crippling to the owner of the land. But, is it only countermagic that it needs? I don't know.
