At this point I pretty much exclusively play Standard, but some of my friends want to get into Extended.

We don't play very competitively, so I don't have to make a Tier 1 deck or anything, just something half-decent.

There are soooo many options, but almost all of them use a ton of dual-lands, Tarmogoyf, etc.

What are some budget options for extended?

Mono-Red Burn and Affinity are both pretty low-budget decks that you could have success with against your friends.

Note that while Affinity is a cheap deck that has been popular for a long time, its popularity has really waned, and AFAIK, it hasn't posted any strong finishes in a long time. That is not disastrous - it's probably more than good enough for local tournaments and even small PTQs - but it's a poor investment, since the whole deck leaves Extended in a year. If only one of these were the case - rotating soon or having a poor season right now - were the case, I'd say go for it. But with Tezzeret being the top dog in the format, people will still be packing artifact hate, both MD and SB, making affinity a pretty weak choice.
