morticianjohn: I'm probably going to say this a couple hundred more times throughout this contest, but random cards annoy me. Dice roll cards haven't even existed in any set besides Unglued (as far as I can remember). This has the same issue that mostly every other luck-based card has - it ranges from terrible to ridiculous.
The whole contest is about creating random cards.... it seems strange to complain about it. I don't think the power level of the card I submitted has the kind of variance that you're talking about.
One end of the spectrum it would be a 1/1 with vanishing 5 that becomes +1+1 bigger each turn for 3 mana. Played on turn 3 you'd have 2/2 able to attack on turn 4 a 3/3 on turn 5 a 4/4 on turn 6 and a 5/5 on turn 7 and it would vanish on turn 8.
The other end of the spectrum it would be a 4/4 that can block on turn 3 and a 5/5 that can attack on turn 4 vanishing on turn 5.
In terms of top down design no other card represented how rollout increases in power each turn and stops when it either misses or when the move ends (5 turns or fewer). If it's a bad card at least it represents rollout very well.
Did I expect to win? No Was the card I submitted needlessly complicated, mostly unplayable, and using dice rolls (which are limited to un sets)? Yes
However, considering in the OP you're asking for top down design from a pokemon attack I think it's reasoable to expect these types of cards. Without any context other than top down design of a pokemon attack how can you expect anything other than random cards? Why do they annoy you?

Mortician, I'll just highlight that it's top down from the name of the attack (the actual card doesn't have to have anything to do with what the attack does).
But more importantly when Mono says 'random cards' he means 'cards with a random component': Coin flips, die etc. Coin flip / clash-like cards have to be exceptional for Mono to like them, and I'll go out on a limb and say unless Mono specifically asks for an Un-card (which he also hates), dice cards will never rank ever. Ever ever. Ever.

Well, then I retract what I said. Words and their double meanings.... clearly I'm reading his response incorrectly and I can understand his distaste for random effects and/or un cards (even though I personally love them). Pokemon the card game uses coin flipping a lot, IMHO it's one of the attractions of the game but I certainly can understand why some people dislike those effects. Rollout in the video game has a 10% miss chance which is pretty high considering most damaging moves hit 100% of the time, I felt like the randomness of the attack was important to capture on the card, however, as I'm fairly new to the contest and there are more random effects in pokemon than rollout I probably could have chosen a better move to get "wacky" with.
So with newfound understanding of how the contest works here is my submission for the next round:
Roost Instant Prevent all damage that would be dealt to creatures you control with flying this turn.

Roost Instant Tap all creatures with flying. Each creature tapped this way is indestructible this turn. It is the blessing of the Afari aven that they may sleep in peace each night, and it will be their undoing.

Okay, here is the clincher. I've been waiting to say this.
The "cam girl" this was inspired by was just a girl from a social networking website, Stickam. Her name was TinyTerror and she was just a regular girl who was on her webcam, totally unrelated to any type of adult content.
I hope you all feel really smart now.
This is like someone coming into class with a bloody nose and everyone's like "Jeez what happened to you" and they're like "I ran into a wall" and everyone laughs at them for being an idiot but then at the end of the class they say "HAHA JUST KIDDING I PUNCHED MYSELF IN THE FACE!!!!!! TALK ABOUT OWNED HAHAHAHAHA"
I really enjoy imagining this from Kevin's perspective. Because in Kevin's world, Rosewater actually reads everything he types. Mark is sitting there right now, reading this, and thinking "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled. . ." Or some such. He chuckles low, then clicks on "The Best Of KEVINSET" and says "Yes, this'll do just fine. A busty lady with banding who deals direct damage to Zones!? Why this will be the star of my next set, and no one will ever believe you Kevin." Then he closes his Macbook, so his servant may move it out of the way, while another servant puts a Fetal Richard Garfield Clone lathered in Steak Sauce in front of him. Then Mark Feasts.
Sorin walked into the chamber where his newly wed bride, Vampy, awaited. A beam of moonlight illuminated his brilliant silver hair as he strode with confidence towards the bed. His shirtless body showcased his powerful abdominal muscles and he was wearing jeans with holes in the knees.
I wish more girls play magic cards...
Have you considered assassinating Kevin?
