Ugh! I hate this kind of parasitic design. Nothing feels worse than having a single Brothers Yamazaki or Stomping Slabs to your name. That said, the fact that it's a mythic that requires a common makes it leaps and bounds better than the heralds. Still, I do hate cards that combo with a specific shapeshifter from Unhinged.

I suppose I was questioning the need for ESRB censoring, which is another issue entirely. I am agreed in several ways about Nissa Revane not being as interesting as other 'walkers, yet I might still use her anyway. Btw, have people noticed synergies popping up between 'walkers? Jace's ultimate + Liliana's ultimate = Pure Awesome, even if you have to target yourself to get much done. Jace's +2 and Liliana's +1 = Lots of Loyalty and +1 total card advantage. And of course, Liliana's tutoring + Jace's card drawing means Answer Now. I was wondering if there was a lot of this going on that I was just missing. I doubt Nissa will end up being very synergistic with other 'walkers though. She seems very elf-absorbed.

Nissa's ultimate + Sarkhan Vol's first ability = win. I think we have to invoke Maro's first rule of card evaluation. "If you don't like this card, it wasn't made for you".

i have made several elven deck and will be happy to add her to them - the first abilitie is okay... it will help you to have a defense able to attack when needed without fearing the death. - the second abilities is awesome 2 life per elf can be absolutely unfair for opponent ... - the third abilities will make you win or not but this is very dependant of what elves you have to put on the table for exemple if you put ... Gilt-Leaf Archdruid ... in play with a bunch of elven druid (there is over 40 elvens druids card and many are mana producers) your opponents will not have many reply as they will not have many mana left the next turn so Planar Cleansing and other heavy removal spell may not be the solution Nissa will probably not be a great card in type 2 for the moment as Alara (17 elfs) was a elven-poor block (m10 has only 4 elf) but if the rest of the zendikar block have more elfs and the next block too... Nissa may be played in the future In other format, with more elfs, it can be played especially with a Gilder Bairn to double the loyalty counters on Nissa and some ways to prevent the opponent to react (with the druids for exemple)

You guys, you guys. They made a planeswalker that doesn't appeal to my specific demographic. Lets whine about it. And they all lived happily ever after. Until the next card was printed and it started all over again. *sigh*

We're allowed to criticize cards, folks, and in fact such criticism is what makes these boards tick. It's not like people think no one is going to like the card.

I should keep on on trends more. I'm still stuck at "quiet is the new loud."

I think Nissa is a nice design. I dunno why exactly, but I've always found cards that refer to other specific cards by name very cool even if they're the epitome of linear design and they partly build your deck for you. Must be the flavor, simply. Since Wizards does it pretty rarely and almost only with Legendary-type stuff (I'm counting planewalkers here) that are packed with flavor, I'm entirely ok with it. That said, like many I fear she won't see much play, at least in tournaments. Even if a Standard elf deck based on Zendikar elves + Lanowar Elves + Elivsh Archdruid ends up being doable, it's not even sure she'll be strong enough for it, as her chosen are pretty meh by themselves, the lifegain is not enough to justify playing her, and her ultimate is pretty much unreachable against any type of competent opponent, especially given her low starting loyalty which makes her easy to remove by attacking or burn. The only place I'd see her shining is in casual duels. In multiplayer, planeswalkers are generally awful, as it's very hard to keep them alive even for one full round against multiple opponents. I don't agree with the people who say she's the best of the three Zendiakr PW's, as I think Chandra Ablaze shows more potential even considering her mana cost.
