This thread is for discussion of this week's From the Lab, which goes live Wednesday morning on magicthegathering.com. Totally missed the Glimmervoid + Brightflame interaction. even though it hits every creature, it still has a single target, so it'll reflect onto every creature, and each reflection will also hit every creature that shares a color with its target. And of course you gain life equal to all the damage dealt. Congregate, eat your heart out, right? I just want to say that Noel's is my favourite weekly column. Although I've no interest in buying any Planechase, the play-by-play was still entertaining to read.
Doesn't entirely work. Say there are ten Saprolings in play... the first Brightflame to resolve will kill them all, so then the others are countered for lack of a target. So it's not _that_ much better than a single Brightflame, unless there are creatures that could survive just one. What's even better about spells copied by other players with targets is that the last copy put on the stack is the only one that will resolve, and you may not be that spell's controller. Enjoy. This does work with spells in which you are set up for being the oly player to benefit, however, such as spells with targetting restrictions you are not vulnerable to, but they are. Disappointing week; only one deck. I would have liked to see him talk about three topics this week: incorporating promo plane Tazeem into each of the existing decks and picking the best plane to remove for it and perhaps putting that plane in another deck until the "benched" plane was whatever you least wanted to use; building a planar deck using your choice of planes to create something likely to survive against others doing the same; and building decks to function in 40- or 41-plane common-stack games. We got only the second one, and not even more than one deck of it, though it was a neat one as usual. Instead, what do we get? Another "hey look how much fun we had playing this awesome new product, coming soon to a retailer near you!" report, much like the one on Tuesday. Guys, I know the economy is tough, but people can smell desperation and they don't care for the bouquet. Stop showing how badly you want us to give you money, and put some actual effort into this job.
I gotta admit, I was also disappointed that it was basically the same thing as Tuesday. It's just that . . . can't . . . stop . . . enjoying . . . reading . . . about . . . Planechase . . . Aaaargh!
Fun article, I love radiate-style effects. I have no idea why clicking on the link from the article doesn't take me directly to the forum, though. Hrmm... Question: If you cast a wish with Glimmervoid Basin in play, do you get EVERYTHING?
