The rules on Banding make sense and keeps it pretty close to its originally functionality. I'm happy about that.

Am I the only person who still plays with Banding?
:D

I never played with Banding because I didn't come around till Planar Chaos, but I never thought that 'bands with other [quality]' should have worked the way it was working; now that it actually 'bands with other [quality],' it makes sense. And honestly? I wouldn't mind seeing a return of banding now that it's not so headache-inducing.

Before anyone says it is, it's not. It's not simple, but it's far from headache-inducing.

Hi

As a casual player I am not really familiar with layers, banding and phasing but could someone elaborate on the favor of the overbeing and snakeform issue - i.e. the creatures not gaining vigilance.

thanks

You should ask your question in a separate thread. This sticky is just meant to summarize the changes, not to answer specific questions.

The two effects that add and remove abilities ("as long as enchanted creature is green it has vigilance" and "target creature loses all abilities") are applied in timestamp order. Whichever is played last "wins". If snakeform is the last thing played, the creature doesn't have any abilities. If favor of the overbeing is the last thing played, the creature has vigilance.

It might be worth noting that, if you're currently floating mana, you have to announce what mana is left in your mana pool each time you pass priority or make a mana payment. This is something that many people already do, but now it's becoming an official procedure.

Good point. I'll add that to the mana section.

If "phased out" joins the category of "status of the card", how do we show that it's phased out if we can't flip it, tap it, or turn it face down since those all represent different status' of the card? Should I take it out of the sleeve if I'm using sleeves, or put it in a sleeve if I'm not?

How did you represent phased out before? You can show its phased out using counters, or as Mago suggested, just put your hand over it. (of course this gets more difficult if you have multiple phased out permanents)

Or you can just slide them to the side of the play area like you've always done. (Being a status doesn't mean you have to show it in any special way)

… and then, the squirrels came.

i guess shoving them aside works.

Put a napkin over them. A little difficult if there are multiple creatures, if there are attachments attached to some and counters on others, etc.
