I've been testing this deck quite alot and I play a list, very very similar to yours

The things that did kill me where faeries and more control versions of quick and toast Also the new swan control decks are quite hard (so all in all, just decks with alot of counters)

the cards I use who aren't in your list are:

Telling time
and my favorite allstar
wistful thinking
Your opponents gets milled for 2, not that big, but helps the cause. The better part is the discard 4 cards part. You effectivly cripple alot of decks if they can't find a counter for wistful thinking.

All in all a very fun deck to play

The problem with Milling decks is that people can SB in like 1-2 cards (2x Gaea's Blessing) and hose your deck completely.

Relying on Milling as a win condition has been tried since the dawn of Magic and it has always proved uncompetitive in the long run. The only real milling strat I've seen that works is Painter's Servant+Grindstone in Vintage and only as an alternate win condition and only because it basically mills them all in one shot.

I played against these Sanity Grinding decks on MWS several times and wasn't too impressed. Sure they can beat you out of the blue with Twincast+Sanity Grinding but I raced them even without a Gaea's Blessing in the deck. If these decks start getting really popular, you can bet people will devote 1-2 slots to milling hate and this deck will no longer work at all.

The difference between anti-milling hate and other kinds of hate is that 1-2 cards COMPLETELY STOP a mill deck whereas sideboarding in 4x Macabre vs. say Reveillark doesn't completely stop it all the time because a.) you may not draw your macabres before they win and b.) they can win in other ways. Sanity Grinding decks fail because a.) opponent drawing his hate is not an issue. at some point during your milling you will hit their hate card and you can't win and b.) there aren't any really decent alternative wincons for this deck from what i can see. it's all devoted to counterspells and janky cards with lots of blue mana symbols in their cost.

If people can take this to tournaments and win once the novelty effect wears off, then good for them. However it looks to me like a textbook case of a one-trick-pony that surprises a few people and then dies to hate.

Sure, Gaea's Blessing is a bummer against this deck, apart from Swans, what other competitive deck uses it? Even in the SB?

Are people really willing to sacrifice their needed SB cards againanst more popoluar decks like Reveillar and faeries, to stop this deck? The answer is no.

And in two months time, the 'I stop you dead' cards that NO-ONE really plays, will not even be legal.

The best thing is, TS block takes nothing away from this.

The thing with this deck, is is changes a lot depending on the meta you face, I've played a version with 4 crag puca , 4 plumeveil and 4 wistful selkie , because I knew they would be the best option against the majority of the decks there.

I hope all of you out there are well stocked up on Memmory plunder 's though!

I think you missed my point entirely.

This deck archetype will never ever be competitive in T2 because the minute it becomes more than an infrequently played rogue deck on MWS/FNM, people will be putting 1-2 Gaea's Blessing in their SB. And how hard is it to cut 1-2 SB cards to hose a deck?

It's infinitely easier to SB against this deck than ANY other deck because you only need 1-2 copies of a certain card in your deck and Sanity Grinding will NEVER EVER win. Unlike other decks where hate might not necessarily be drawn during the game, or other wincons might still work around the hate, if someone puts 1-2 Blessing in their deck Sanity Grinding's chance of winning just become 0, or very close to it. Just by putting one card in the deck.

And when Blessing rotates out, I'm sure something will come to replace it. Wizards always makes sure to print some kind of card legal in Standard that shuffles your graveyard back into your library, specifically to give people an answer to milling.

Cute combo, but tier1 deck? Never.

Now that you mention it, how has Memmory Plunder been working for your out of the board? It seems very situational. I know I wouldn't want to run it main deck and if I were to bring it in from the board, what would you take out? What spells are worth plundering from your opponents yard?

I agree this deck will never warp the meta, because as soon as it starts winning people will SB against it. But you CAN steal a tourney with it, and it's not too expensive to build.

Ancestral vision , Cryptic command , Careful consideration , Wrath of god , Damnation , Flame javelin , Unmake , Rune snag , Primal command etc etc etc

This card makes the contorl match ups much more in your favour. And whilst Q'n'T has a crazy manabase that's stretched out to play all these amazing spells, you can just raid their GY to play them right back in their face, and usually for cheaper, or at instant speed instead.

About the gaea's blessing, you are proving my point, you do not concieve this deck to be a threat, and thus do nothing about it! T2 does have other cards that stop milling like this, Primal command being the best example. However I've managed to win even after decks have played this spell! Gaea's blessing is known for being THE BEST anti mill card ever printed, and it's unlikely they will make something with the exact same ability again, or reprint it in the near future.

Wheel of sun and moon is the other anti mill card, that can be bounced by 7 cards MD, not really an issue at all....

Also, Trickbind actually stops it.

And Gaea's blessing is the ONLY card that can reall stop it.
