I like how right above the last post Qwyrexian is berating someone for necroing this thread after two months.
Suddenly that necro doesn't seem so bad...
Also, I still don't really understand new combat. Whoops.
That said, Magic sure hasn't died. Interesting to note that, I think.

I saw the video and beat the challenge but what I don't understand is during the sacfrifice of Knight of the Skyward Eye, I gain +5 points then +1 after that. Can someone explain in detail why that happens.
Pariah , Brion Stoutarm , and Mistmeadow Skulk .
When you activate Brion targeting yourself, Pariah causes the damage that would be dealt to you to be dealt to Platinum Angel instead. So Brion deals 5 damage to the Angel. Since Brion has lifelink, this causes you to gain 5 life. (Incidentally, even if the damage was dealt to you, you would still have lived; you gain the life from lifelink at the same time as you lose life from being dealt damage, so your life total would change to 1 - 5 + 5 = 1.)
After that happens, Mistmeadow Skulk deals combat damage to Ravenous Rats , which causes you to gain 1 life since the Skulk has lifelink.
Incidentally, this is really the wrong place to post something like this. This particular thread has been dead for two years before you posted in it; starting a new thread would have been a better course of action.
And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real. --Erin McKean, Redefining the Dictionary

Actually your response is incorrect. Here is what REALLY happens. When you put the Pariah on the Platinum Angel, all damage that you would be dealt is redirected BEFORE it actually hits you. Imagine a fireball coming for you and then at the last second, it turns away and goes another direction, that is what happens here. You never got touched by the damage. Then you get 5 life because Brion has lifelink and then you get another 1 life because of the Skulk's lifelink. That's how you went from 1 life to 7. If you carefully read the Pariah card it clearly states that all damage that would be dealt to you is dealt to enchanted creature INSTEAD.By the way, I did not know this was the wrong place to post this question. I can't read ones mind.

this is what you wrote: "you gain the life from lifelink at the same time as you lose life from being dealt damage, so your life total would change to 1 - 5 + 5 = 1" There is no lose but only gain You are wrong. Someone gave me the correct answer on you tube just after you responded

this is what you wrote: "you gain the life from lifelink at the same time as you lose life from being dealt damage, so your life total would change to 1 - 5 + 5 = 1" There is no lose but only gain
Read the entire sentence: "(Incidentally, even if the damage was dealt to you, you would still have lived; you gain the life from lifelink at the same time as you lose life from being dealt damage, so your life total would change to 1 - 5 + 5 = 1.)"
That was part of a parenthetical aside explaining what would have happened if the damage was actually dealt to you, which as the previous sentence made clear, was not the case.
