Ah, God. These make me cringe... I love them. I don't really run into people who are blatantly wrong with the rules, it's usually just a bit of innocent ignorance. Then again, I only play with friends in my group, or at prereleases.

That sucks to be in those situations. Sometimes I'm grateful my store is 90% Cutthroat Spikes so I never have to worry about those situations.

Well, there's the incident where a certain well-known forum member tried to tell me that Split Second contains the rules text "this spell has Flash"...
But the best example happened just recently. Shame I don't have logs:
I was playing Doran Doran against... Merfolk, I think? Some deck that stood no chance. Anyway, I drop a Garruk, he doesn't counter it, and I proceed to add a loyalty counter and untap 2 lands. He goes into the "Wait! Wait! Wait! Wait!" routine, informing me that I can't use the ability on the same turn it came into play. I ask him where he heard that, as it's not anywhere in the rules. He says "you can play them abilities as sorcery", to which I agree. Then he drops this wonder of a line:
"Sorcery have summoning sickness"
I was floored.

Some people I met last summer were convinced that decree of silence affects your teammates in 2HG (technically 3HG). Or a friend of mine who was convinced you could sacrifice a creature, then regenerate it.

Ceci n'est pas une pipe.
This definitely doesn't mean what you think it means.
I was referring to the painting The Treachery of Images.
I know.

I love threads like this because eventually, if you wait long enough, someone will completely and utterly own themselves.

*owns self* I'm talking about stuff like: "I was playing this guy and he played a spell and I played Teferi in response and he was all 'my spell still resolves' but no way cuz he can't play it cuz of teferi! lol"
There is always at least one in every thread of this type.
