flamekin bladewhirl is quicker than fanatic against control, and kills 2 toughness creatures just like fanatic does. i like fanatic, but i think bladewhirl is just faster. there's not that many x/1's running around that i would need to kill. hell's thunder is there to help bladewhirl. and he can come back. and he flies. i like him. Its not the x/1's that bladewhirl needs to kill, its the 1/x that would kill bladewhirl.
Your dont have enough elementals to reveal that often either and if its forcing you to play hells thunder, which is an aggro card, in a midrange deck then you may as well be running spark elemental .

to me demigod red is more aggro than mid-range. it's like a mix between the two. 1/x's also kill fanatic anyway. stigma lasher, ashenmoor gouger, and hell's thunder are all elementals. that's 12 not counting the bladewhirls themselves, which i think should be pretty sufficient.
from what i can gather, one reason demigod red wins is because it's so fast, and can catch you by surprise by dropping the demigods and throw off combat math. hell's thunder allows you to be fast, and not lose power late game by being able to recur himself.
now this is theory, since i havn't tested with the elemental splash, so you may be right. but in my head, the list i posted has more speed and can goldfish wins on T5 easily, in multiple ways, most not even including demigod. hell's thunder also avoids most burn and whatnot. doesn't die to firespout. which is a pretty moot point since he dies at EOT anyway, but, i think hell's thunder is more likely to do more damage to the opponent than ram-gang. hell's thunder is less likely to be blocked, and recurs. hell's thunder WILL do 8 damage. ram-gang has to live to attack 3 times, and not get chumped, in order to deal the same ammount of damage (+1) that hell's thunder would. maybe i'm just hoping hell's thunder will be good, since it reminds me of my favorite card, which is blistering firecat. if only firecat was legal, this deck would be that much better.

If someone can make a decent elemental deck wusing Flamekin Bladewhirl, Hells Thunder and maybe Ashenmoore Gouger and Stigma Lasher it may be worth a look. People have adapted to the Demigods with cards like Condemn, Runed Halo, Justice Archons etc.
Theres also that devour+haste critter and cards like Dragon Fodder as well. Kitchen Finks is less of an issue as he once was due to Stigma Lasher and various burn spells that remove it from the game or deal wither damage. I'm not sure if a different build of RDW will do any better vs Demigod reds bad matchups. I'm thining of adding Tattermunge Maniac to the deck as its alot better vs 5CC than Mogg Fanatic and vs Kithkin for Example Cadera Helion may be better sided in than Demigod which will just bounce off a Spectral Procession tokemn or worse get mirrorweaved and smack you out of the game.
Just some thoughts.
Reducing a character to a list of dice rolls and modifiers is not role playing*

yeah caldera hellion may be a good sideboard option to compliment infests, or pyroclasms if you're still mono red. good call. we'll have to test it out. that should give you a pretty big edge against aggro decks. predator dragon is the card you're talking about. it reminds me of rorix bladewing . that could be pretty strong. it will outright win you the game. you have to wait til turn 6 to use it though. i don't know if a version using dragon fodder and predator dragon would be any stronger. it is worth testing though, using demigod as a 4 of, and predator dragon as a 2 of, 3 of max, as a secondary finisher. i just don't know what you would cut for dragon fodder, since i think stigma lasher , and goblin deathraiders are probably stronger choices for the 2 drop slot. what would be an optimal sideboard then. for the build i plan on testing i thinkk i'm going to go with 4 thoughtseize 4 infest 3 caldera hellion 4 ??? how does that sound so far, and what should i put in to fill up the rest. i figure between sb thoughtseize, and md blightning, control should be a little easier, coupled with the sheer speed. against aggro infest and caldera hellion should be enough board sweepers. i'm just not sure what the 4th slot should be. what are some things that this deck just can't handle md. i'm not sure what else i need. fulminator mage is good against 5cc, but between the speed, thoughtseize, and blightning, that matchup shouldn't need anymore sb slots. and against aggro 7 board sweepers should be sufficient. and black and red can't handle enchantments. perhaps some artifact destruction for some esper decks that are bound to show up? perhaps shatterstorm ? what do other people's sideboards look like, and why? i'm trying to get as much information as possible. maybe terror to handle large creatures that can't be burnt. maybe a combination of shatterstorm and terror, and perhaps dropping the hellion down to 2?

@tugboat
We have identical lists and im loving the deck. I can't remember the last time I wasnt in the top 4 at fnm with it. The only thing I would change is that you should probably run 2-3 ghitu encampments.

I don't see the motive to run stigma lasher as MD.
There is nothing better? ;p
