Fulminator Mage main would be a start but that would bring the total number of spells at 3cc to 16. Though in all honesty if you are thinking you are going to face a large amount of toast decks then its worth it.

I don't see the motive to run stigma lasher as MD.
There is nothing better? ;p Stigma Lasher is good.
He 1hko's finks, he stops life gain such as primal command, he destroys midrange (hello 2/2 collosus), and hes a good beater.

Now that 5CC has near iffy answers to our threats what do we think about temporary threats such as Hell's Thunder? A 3cc 4 damage spell that either eats up a Bant Charm or Condemn or gets in for 4 on a business turn or turns a dead turn into a chance at another solid attack. Also, while I feel that Magma Spray is better than Shock or Tarfire the latter can hit a control player for two which lends itself to a more burn heavy suite including a couple of Lash Outs for removal and Scry1 which is relevant in builds that dropped a land and went to 23. If instead of Magma Spray we run Tarfire, we have at least 12 Goblin Cards thus allowing us use of Auntie's Hovel. Between that and filter lands we now have a painless black splash setup that allows us access to Infest and Thoughtseize if we so desire. I bring all this up because while playing 5cc I've had little to no trouble stabilizing and overwhelming what I refer to as a "Standard" Demigod Red build. However, I had some trouble with a burn heavy build that I believe is similar to the following list: Spoiler:
Show
// Lands 21 [UG] Mountain 2 [10E] Ghitu Encampment
// Creatures 4 [EVE] Figure of Destiny 4 [SHM] Demigod of Revenge 4 [10E] Mogg Fanatic 4 [EVE] Stigma Lasher 4 [SHM] Boggart Ram-Gang 3 [ALA] Hell's Thunder
// Spells 4 [10E] Incinerate 4 [SHM] Flame Javelin 4 [LRW] Tarfire 2 [LRW] Lash Out The numbers may be off by 1 here or there but I think it's roughly the build he was playing. It was much more diffacult to stabilize and I was rather uneasy when I did finally start getting there as he had so many more potential outs against me than a normal Demigod Red. I've been switching off between 5CC and Demigod Red for a bit now and I've been wondering what are your thoughts on these musings?

Puncture Blast guten. 3cc? Probably not so much.

3cc? Probably not so much. I have really liked using Puncture Blast in my burn suite. I like that it brings fatties that I may otherwise have problems with back into a range where I can deal with them, I like how it defeats combat tricks that temporarily pump a creature's toughess, I like that it defeats persist creatures, and I like that it can still go to my opponent's head.
I agree that 3 damage for 3 CMC is not the most efficient burn spell available, but I rarely am in a bind for mana given that I run 24 land.

http://www.deckcheck.net/deck.php?id=20211Check it. I'd post the list but I'm lazy and my posts are long anyway. That's a list from the SCG tourney this weekend. What do you all think? Some things I noticed: -4 MD Firespout. Not only that, but there's no access to green mana . . . Not only that, but it's dead or near-dead in some MUs (you know, like Fae and Kithkin). -23 lands. I guess that works. -Hell's Thunder, which I champion, not because I like the card a whole lot but because it's good vs. Toast and Fae. -Shard Volley (!) -No MoggFan or Stigma Lasher, which I agree with in this meta. (Note Lashers in the board, though.) People at my shop call this "Medium Red"; I'm surprised I haven't heard much about it on the threads. It takes adantage of the slower metagame by eschewing cheaper dudes for game-changing dudes and spells. I really like the list because it does look to have a game against QnT. I don't know why the player didn't splash for green (for Spout) or black (as many of you have--I think for obvious reasons) when such a splash would be easy enough. The deck did well, though, and I think it's an indicator that people are on the right track on this thread. I humbly offer that the latest BR incarnations are better than the mono red deck.

One cheap response to Burrenton Forge-Tender is the Moonglove Extract. It's 3cc but is colorless and stay in the game to response others treats.

This thread is now being moved to the Standard Tournament Center for further discussion, as requested in the Requests thread...
And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real. --Erin McKean, Redefining the Dictionary

My update
4 Ashenmoor Gouger (I prefer Gouges than ram-gang, Gouges not die for firespout, terror, agony warp and to other Spells) 4 Demigod of Revenge 4 Figure of Destiny 4 Hell´s Thunder 4 Mogg Fanatic 4 Vexing Shuser / Oona's Prowler (u can discard demigod with it, but shusher is great against 5cc and faeries)
4 Blightning
4 Flame Javelin 4 Incinerate
4 Auntie´s Hovel 4 Graven Cairns 10 Mountain 2 Reflecting Pool 4 Sulfurous Springs I am not sure yet if this curve of mana is the correct.
Sideboard:
4 Fulminator Mage 4 Infest (i splash black and put infest against ww(burreton) , that was the main reason for me to splash black. If the deck was monored Clearly use pyroclasm or firespout 3 Bitterblossom 4 Thoughtseize (good against 5cc and against faeries)
