I was looking at the Buenos Aires list and I was just thinking that it's kinda funny that he could build up his storm count and cast a whole bunch of damaging stuff in one turn and boom! all for naught because I cast a single Luminesce and RDL doesn't have a single counterspell so...
Just sayin', that's all. There really isn't any other deck that gets hosed in one turn by one mana and one spell like that.
Your original post said something to the effect of "how can this deck deal when someone sideboards in a single Luminesce?" Or something like that. At the very least, you have yourself convinced that this card COMPLETELY hoses a burn deck, yes?
The answer to your question is that almost every deck has a foil (and by this I do not mean a shiny card, but a single card that is difficult to work around. see: nemesis) and just as in this case, very rarely does this card see play. If you are running Luminesce, good for you. It is just you and that guy over there stealing my Cheetos that uses that card.
But, for the sake of argument, I'll assume that I am playing a burn deck and my opponent has this card in their deck. Here is how this is worked around: you play one spell at a time. Can you see how this works? I play a single burn spell and I've still got 3 cards in hand and 3 mana free. Are you going to cast the Luminesce now or are you going to wait? As soon as you cast it, I'm done casting spells. You only have 4 of those in your deck and I've got a whole deck full of burn, I can be patient.
I am curious however, are you going into every aggro deck and pointing out how a single card completely wrecks them? And if so, are you also mentioning the other card that wrecks their entire strategy? And are you going into threads of decks that utilize recurring cards from their graveyard and pointing out that a single card utterly hoses them? And again, if so are you also pointing out that this card also PWNS them?
You have offered us NOTHING new that we did not already know: burn decks have sideboard cards we need to work around, congratulations for pointing out the obvious! The difference between my examples and yours is that people actually play with the cards I listed. I am not trying to argue that burn decks are as powerful now as they were 6 months ago, but come on, if you are going to come into a thread you obviously don't care about to criticize it, can you at least leave your weak arguments at home and do some actual analysis?
The analysis is that there are no decks that get hosed as cheaply and easily as red burn.
You only have so much damage potential in your deck. If opponent either gains life beyond that threshold or kills enough of your burn in one turn with one of the sideboard cards that offer protection, you cannot win. at all.
The same cannot be said for the other decks that have foils (aggro and damnation, lark and extirpate). Aggro can rebuild, not overextend, etc. WoG/Damnation also cost a heck of alot more than Red's foils and demand a greater mana investment (you almost have to be playing B or W).
The fact of the matter is that straight red burn is really an outdated concept that should not be played in today's meta without significant changes to adopt alternative win conditions and protection and such.

Then clearly you do not know how burn decks are played these days, if you assume that the burn is used exclusively as dome damage. I will also repeat the point that NOBODY plays with the cards you listed. I am not arguing the point that there are fairly simple ways to defeat a burn deck, but that is why the burn player has to play smart and sideboard correctly.
You can't have your cake and eat it too. Either burn is viable and people are side boarding the cards you listed cards against it, or most people consider burn decks dead and therefore are not side boarding against it (because be real, why would you side board against a deck you do not think people are playing?). I will give you one of these two points, but you must abandon the other because both cannot be true at the same time. And whichever condition you choose to defend, that problem can be worked around by being clever.
No Puncture Blast? In my head it makes me go 'whoop-whoop-whoop' - I'd switch it for Manamorphose or Cinder Pyromancer in a heartbeat. Go Go Finks tech. And it's great against random fat .

always loved this deck. simple on the paper but hard to master methinks. also that the prime pilot binural is still very much involved with keeping the deck alive and competitive.
but jebus christ, its gonna get hosed badly at rotation, huh?
