Except they have to say they are letting it resolve its ability before they counter. Right, I think I might win a few games off of this little loophole.

If you were playing really formally, then you're announcing anything and there's no chance of sneaking an ability by. If you aren't, it's open to interpretation. And there's always a spectator in tournament games, at least there is as soon as somebody calls judge.
I could be wrong, maybe this will work for a lot of people and be accepted by judges. I just think a trick that relies on putting an ability on the stack without the other guy noticing has a number of issues. It really depends, most players tap and counter without a second thought when a opponent plays a spell. Since this is true just as long as you don't explicitly say "response?," (since you have to put the ability on the stack before priority shifts) you wouldn't have misinformed anyone. The opponent if he complains has nothing on you provided you didn't pass priority officially without announcing the ability.
This is not something I would exploit that often though, and the wording is annoying enough that its just possible that wizards will make a ruling on it.

I just noticed how this is practically uncounterable, since it brings all instances of itself back as a trigger off being played. This card is even awesomer than I initially thought.

It can still be countered, if they let the ability resolve before countering the Demigod. Of course, they're still staring at up to three copies of it anyway.

As far as Standard goes. I don't think we'll see a lot of tutoring stuff to the graveyard, etc shenanigans with Demigod. Four copies in a proper curve deck will be pressure enough to make it a deal with me or die threat that gets stronger and stronger in the late game. While it certainly hates faerie trickery, the card is all but a non participant in Standard so far. The biggest thing that'll decide it's place I think is if a strong enough predominately red or black deck will find a mana curve spot for it. But I see it more than likely becoming a Standard staple finished if it does( and most likely will). I'm looking foreward to seeing the rest of the cycle. And the cycle of hybrid lands will definitely help diversify the decks that can run it. Especially blue/black that can have the card draw to consistently see more copies.

Seems like this card could potentially be a chase rare?

Great in rakdos when you discard another or more then you get 2 5/4 flying hasters for 10 damage and if they die repeat, It has a built in bloodbond march for itself and hybrid too. Its Great!
