w/o lots of extra drawing EDH just seems like a big topdecking fest to me

Well i'd loved to have made a EDH deck using Tamanoa after seeing the power it has thanks to Euler here, but since it ain't legendary and none of the GWR legends rock my socks. Anyways, this needs some bumping where bumping is due and then go work on my first stab at EDH

I would have called it ages ago if it was viable. I really love that card.

of course now i'm up on a delemma. Can you pack artifacts? Or is colorless not allowed unless your general is too? THere's no explicit rule for or against it, so that's where my question lies.

artifacts are fair game. if your general is an artifact though, you cant have colored spells.

Actually... my Gatherer-fu isn't all that great - could someone suggest cards for a tap-lockdown Aboshan deck? Alas, no Lorwyn, but anything else works.

Hokay, I'm going to try to keep this up, as I've seen a few people posting about Hghlander interest. CaT's general added to the list, and rules updated. Other legends are allowed in the deck, but only one general. Artifacts are legal in all decks.

Each player's General is removed from the game before the game starts. A player may play his general as if it were in his hand. You must pay its mana cost, and it cannot be played as an instant unless it has flash.

I thpought if you played it as if it were in your hand, than I wouldn't lose. But if Doran is already taken, and I can't have Phage, I'll pick a new one when I think of it.

Empress Galina isn't gonna work, heh. That falls into the same vein as Heroes' Demise and Tsabo Tavoc . You can still use her, you just won't be able to grab the other player's general. Other Legends would be fine, though.

No, I don't get out to big tourneys much, as much as I'd like to take my Faeries to T2 States. Where do you go to college, sounds cool if you've got enough people for an EDH tourney.

I was wondering if you guys could help me build 6 EDH decks. I would like to play some EDH with my playgroup but most of them are cheap arses and I have almost all of the recent cards. So any suggestions for my six generals.

I do know that I want to make a RGW and a BU/BUW.

Erm, 6? Wowza.

For RGW, your only option is Rith, the Awakener (I assumed your card age limit was extended), which means you can stick Verdant Force in there, along with Verdeloth the Ancient and plenty of accel, to make a pretty cool saproling deck. Your saps can more than hold off any non-flying general while Rith soars over FTW.

BU gives you some more options, like Szadek, Lord of Secrets and Circu, Dimir Lobotomist , making mill a possibility. Dralnu, Lich Lord or Panoptic Mirror let you reuse Glimpse the Unthinkable , and Millstone , Whetwheel , Whetstone , and Ambassador Laquatus can help.

BUW gives you the jackpot. Merieke Ri Berit , the pwnstar of EDH. Want to kill my general? Fine, I'll take yours with it. Twiddle and Icy Manipulator let you use her to kill multiple threats, and Diplomatic Immunity and Slagwurm Armor and the like make her impervious to harm. Just pack some big threats a la Tidal Kraken , Kokusho, the Evening Star , and Psychatog (Your yard will be fat enough) to finish your helpless opponent off. Damnation , Darkblast , and Darkness are encouraged for stalling.

Yawgmoth's Bargain is one of the things conventionally banned in EDH. Magma Jet is noticeably missing from the burn suite, and you could do with some more card draw, try Dark Confidant , Wheel of Fortune , Wheel of Fate , and especially Necropotence .

Thanks for the notice on YawgBar I did not know that.

I will take that out for the nercopotence.

I am also taking out fireblast and rain of gore for magma jet and wheel of fortune.

I do not own any wheel of fates but if I do get one it will go in. As for confidant I feel that the deck has too manyhigh costing cards with zero life gain to counteract it. If you have more experienc with this than I will be willing to put him in.

Also what do you think about a memory jar in here?

Actually... since I'm new to the format, I don't have a very good idea of what I'm doing. Could someone help me make a lockdown (I.E. all your stuff is tapped) Aboshan, Cephalid Emperor deck?

I'd like to make a proposition, since I've found a legend that really sounds juicy yet the're no possible way for me to use him at the moment, so I'd like to hammer out the details of getting him playable, and if so then claiming him.
But since I don't want to bring a massive proposition/rant/debate into this thread, Euler if you'd like we can discuss it over a PM. I'll post it here if you really want me to.

Aside from that, I'd also like to put a claim on another general- Reya Dawnbringer . I have a lot of ideas for a deck using her.

No, to use hybrids, you have to have both colors. Someone found that rule online for me, actually, I forget who. And yeah, feel free to PM me, you've piqued my curiosity now. Finals are over as of five minutes ago, so we'll just have to dodge my WoW addiction. (I fell back off the wagon after about 6 months clean)

EDIT: Magus, good catch on Bob. And Memory Jar would definitely be a solid choice.

out of curiousity, could a general be a legendary permanent that turns into a creature? my reason for wondering is Dark Depths , although with the 30 mana you need it'd be hard.

i am sorry if this has already been asked, but what about flip cards such as budoka gardener ? how do they work and are they usable as Generals?

I'm not sure how to deal with non-creature generals, honestly. As for the Gardener, flip sides are not taken into account while the creature is not in play, so I'd say no, they can't be generals unless they're legendary creatures to begin with, like Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant .

That reminds me, I also want Erayo, Soratami Ascendant . :D

After working for a while I found I had an almost-finished EDH deck already in my saved files. I'd like to add Maga, Traitor to Mortals as a second General for myself. Mwahaha!

Here's another attempt from me. the goal of this deck is to maximize General damage. My goal is to use Halfdane as my general, and lots of big creatures that probably won't be able to do anything except sit back and MAYBE block. Halfdane, hopefully rendered unblockable (by straight unblockable, or protection of some sort), then hits for massive damage with his copied p/t.

In an emergency, i can generate the mana to untap and attack with Colossus of Sardia, or otherwise let my big drawback-y creatures strike... assuming I haven't closed that door with Wall of Shards.

Heatless Hidetsugu Show So basically the goal is to get as much direct damage in as possible while pinging away at his creatures and life then accel into hidetsugu and hit his life... hard. Then finish off over the next few turns. There's lifegain in there in case the plan doesn't quite work out the way it's supposed to.

Erayo, soratami ascendant is broken. In a recent EDH tourney, the card dominated. So many moxen still left unbanned to rack up the spell count!

I've just got into this format, and it's hillarious fun! Whilst I may not have too many of the old school powerful cards, I've got enough to make a decent B/U deck.

My general, Szadek, lord of secrets , Yes, that's right kids, a general who never actually deals damage! lol.

I've gone for the heavy tutor route, using transmute etc, and Riptide Shapeshifter when most of my other creatures have a type unique to them in the deck letting me tutor into play things like Scion of darkness , Kuro, Pitlord , Thundercloud Elemental , Darksteel Gargoyle , Oona, queen of the fae , Mirror Golem etc.

I'm running lots of card drawing and Thought reflection to make it get silly, lots of control etc, and Beacon of unrest as well as Nezumi graverobber and Memory plunder to take advantage of my opponents stuff!

My play group I'm up against has the following generals(to give you an idea of my 'meta'):
- Reaper King
- Kami of the crescent moon
-Some weird hippo thing
- Nicol Bolas
- Ghost council of Ohrzhov
-And I can't remember the other one.
