EDIT: Changed some elves for 4x Sakura Tribe Elder . Bridge From Below hate, deck thinning, and I can recycle them infinitely with Oversold Cemetery . Also, added the 4th Cemetery in exchange for a Life//Death . I have been testing a deck I built around Bladewing's Thrall , using changelings and Oversold Cemetery for recurrent reanimation. First, here is the decklist (note: I won't include dual and fetch lands in the list, because I did the testing without them. Of course, it performs better with them): G/B Bladewing's CemeteryLands 9 x *swamp 2 x *desert 1 x *Pendelhaven 11 x *Forest . Creatures 4 x *Sakura-Tribe Elder 2 x *Llanowar Elves 1 x *Elves of deep shadow 1 x *Oona's Prowler 1 x *Chameleon Colossus 4 x *Skeletal changeling 3 x *Moonglove changeling 4 x *Bladewing's Thrall . Non-Creatures 4 x *Oversold Cemetery 4 x *Buried Alive 3 x *Call of the Herd 4 x *Cabal Therapy 2 x +[Life]+[Life]+[Death]+[card]" class="linkedCardName" target="_blank">x [card=Life]Life//Death Life//Death &type=card"> . . SideDeck 4 x *Tormod's Crypt 4 x *Krosan Grip 3 x *Smother 4 x *Eyes of the Wisent Here is How the deck works: Use the Llanowar Elves and the Elves of deep shadow to accelerate into an early Buried Alive , choosing Bladewing's Thrall . Then play a changeling to return your Thralls to play. Play any other Burials until the 4 Thralls are in the graveyard, and bury some more changelings if you want. Life can recover dead creatures, reviving all your Thralls in the process, and with an Oversold Cemetery in play you can shrug off any mass removal or discard, or turn your Burials into creature tutors (who said Chameleon Colossus ? He brings your friends to the party!). Cabal Therapy is a great card in it's own right, and here you play the flashback cost for virtually nothing. Call of the Herd gives you some extra oomph in the creature department. Also, all your Bladewing's Thrall s fly if you chave a changeling in play! EDIT: Everybody loves Sakura-Tribe Elder . This deck can play him every turn! If you don't need to recover a changeling (or have more than 1 Oversold Cemetery in play) recover, recast, sac, repeat next turn. Really awesome thinning, and acceleration for your finishing Chameleon Colossus . Remember that Buried Alive is virtually a creature tutor here thanks to Oversold Cemetery . Well, any C&C is welcome!

I play in the Casual Decks room in Magic Online, and here's my Extended Counterburn deck. It's a control deck which takes control by killing all of the enemy's creatures and then dealing 20 damage with Shard Phoenix , Disintegrate , and Hammer of Bogardan . Joseph Silver's Extended CounterburnMana Sources 4 x *Izzet Signet 9 x *Island 11 x *Mountain 4 x *Terramorphic Expanse Burn 3 x *Disintegrate 4 x *Electrolyze 3 x *Hammer of Bogardan 3 x *Shard Phoenix 3 x *Sulfurous Blast Countermagic 4 x *Negate 4 x *Remand Bounce 4 x *Repeal Sideboard 4 x *Flashfreeze 4 x *Guerilla Tactics 4 x *Remove Soul 3 x *Shattering Spree I previously used Pyroclasm instead of Sulfurous Blast, but I switched to the latter because it's an instant, and it gets my opponent 2 or 3 points closer to 0. Anyway, I win most of my games in the Casual Decks room, but I have a problem with the following matchups: 1. Storm decks. Whether it's a tourney-worthy TEPS or a budget mono-color storm deck, I almost always lose this matchup. My deck simply can't win fast enough, and it doesn't have enough countermagic to counter my opponent's combo pieces. 2. Combo decks in general. My deck can hold its own against aggro (lots of burn) and control (recurring cards and countermagic), but against control (especially Storm), I lose a lot. 3. Any deck with graveyard hate. I was thinking of maybe siding out Shard Phoenix and Hammer of Bogardan and siding in something that isn't vulnerable to graveyard hate. But what? Any suggestions?

I just noticed the combo Djinn Illuminatus has with the FS Pacts, and I wanted to make a competitive deck with it. Creatures(18) 4 Djinn Illuminatus 4 Simian Spirit Guide 4 Mulldrifter 3 Iron Myr 3 Silver Myr Other spells(20) 4 Pact of the Titan 4 Emblem of the Warmind 1 Pact of Negation 2 Grapeshot 3 Negate 3 Remove Soul 3 Veilstone Amulet Lands(22) 2 Faerie Conclave 4 Izzet Boilerworks 4 Steam Vents 7 Mountain 5 Island Main win conditon is to have Emblem of the Warmind and Djinn Illuminatus out on the board and Pact of the Titan in hand. Replicate the pact as many times as you need to get 4/4 giants w/haste to end the game. If EotW is not out, just play Grapeshot or Brain Freeze after replication. I haven't seen this combo in any decklists(I haven't checked the forums yet), so I'm assuming it isn't competitive because I'm sure many others noticed this combo before I did. I am not worried about a budget right now, I just wanted to make a competitive deck. I tried to put enough mana accel to get the djinn out quick and enough control to live that long. Also, if I enchant Faerie Conclave with Emblem of the Warmind while its a creature, will it stay enchanted and will it still give haste. I'm hoping to protect it from creature kill.

Ok, first of all, I very new at this. This is my second serious attempt at a good deck. The strategy here is to cripple my opponent by removing his most important cards and/or preventing him from playing them, forcing discards, and then killing with Nezumi Shortfang and other creatures. Basically, this deck is supposed to be a huge pain in the ***** for all decks that heavily rely on specific cards (most tournament decks fall into this category). I know this deck needs a ton of work, but any feedback would be welcome. 4 Dimir Guildmage 4 Meddling Mage 4 Nezumi Shortfang 4 Ravenous Rats 4 Cabal Therapy 4 Duress 4 Extirpate 4 Gerrard's Verdict 4 Vindicate 3 Stupor 7 Swamp 4 Tainted Field 4 Watery Grave 3 Tainted Isle 2 Caves of Koilos 1 Pillar of the Paruns Sideboard: 4 Boseiju, Who Shelters All 4 Chainer's Edict 4 Cranial Extraction 3 Disenchant

Hi I like the auto-win aspect of Niv- Mizzet, the firemind enchanted with Curiosity or Ophidon Eye . Basically enchanted Niv with curiosity or ophidon eye , tap Niv for the auto win. It's a fairly good deck, but it's way too slow and I'm trying to make it a little more competitive. Any suggestions are welcome. Also My budget is quite high but nothing ridiculous:P Main Deck Lands 3 Steam Vents 4 Shivan Reef 8 Island 7 Mountain Creatures 4 Niv- Mizzet, the firemind 4 Gelectrode 2 Jhoira of the Ghitu 2 Aeon Chronicler Instants 4 Incinerate 2 Dream's Grip 4 Shock 1 Mnemonic Nexus 4 Remand Enchantments 3 Curiosity 3 Ophidon Eye Artifacts 2 Thousand- year Exilir 3 Izzet Signet Some other options are: Sigil of Sleep , Tormod's crypt , Rune Snag or Mana Leak , Ancestral Vision , Seething song or Rite of Flame and some more cards like Ponder , Words of Wisdom and Shattering Spree or Shatter . Any help would be much appreciated.:D

I used to play a lot of Magic, and I started during the Onslaught block. I never touched extended cuz i wasnt around for the cards that were competative at the time. I always played Type 2. I played up through ravnica block and then ran out of time and money and kind of just stopped playing. Recently I have taken up interest in the game again and i was wanting to modify one of my old Type 2 decks for extended since that may be easier. I'm not even sure if its possible, but I'm looking to make my RW control deck competative. Thanks for any suggestions. Land: 11x Mountain 9x Plains 1x Mikokoro, Center of the Sea 1x Eiganjo Castle Creatures 1x Yosei, the Morning Star 1x Kumano, Master Yamabushi 1x Razia, Boros Archangel 2x Patron of the Kitsune 2x Firemane Angel Instants/Sorcerys: 1x Wrath of God 2x Final Judgement 4x Shining Shoal 4x Devouring Light 4x Lightning Helix 4x Shock 2x Terashi's Grasp 3x Faith's Fetters Artifacts/Enchantments 2x Boros Signet 2x Sensei's Divining Top 1x Genju of the Fields 2x Genju of the Spires I really like the way the Firemanes work in here, I do think I need to get ahold of another one. I'm also looking to get another Wrath of God. And as I said, this is mostly Ravnica/Kamigawa since that is when I used to play, and I'm open to making a lot of changes, just I would like atleast some resemblence of what I have right now. I'm also not sure which multilands I should try to get, that would be appreciated aswell. I'm willing to spend a fair amount of money if you guys really think it could be worth it.

A small variation of the a Millfolk deck, this deck relies on the combo Grimoire thief / Judge of currents / Stonybrook Schoolmaster , Paradise mantle , Freed from the real / Pemmin's Aura . The rest should be fairly self explanatory. Sage of epityr for kind of draw?? and to fill in my one drop slot Grimoire thief mill for the kill Judge of currents infinite life for the win Stonybrook schoolmaster Infinite tokens for the win. Trinket mage Tutoring for paradise mantle Counterspell counter spells... Oblivion ring removal. Ponder draw As for my side board, so far I have put in Vedalken Shackles and Ghostly prison to counter any fast aggro decks. Also put Lightning greaves to counter any nasty burn decks and such. Tell me what you think =] Merfolk MayhemLands 18 x Island 2 x Plains 4 x Wanderwine Hub 2 x Seat of the Synod 2 x Ancient Den Total: 2 x 0 Creatures 4 x Sage of Epityr 4 x Grimoire Thief 4 x Judge of Currents 3 x Stonybrook Schoolmaster 3 x Trinket Mage Total: 1 x 8 Other Spells 4 x Pemmin's Aura 2 x Freed from the Real 4 x Paradise Mantle 4 x Counterspell 4 x Oblivion Ring 4 x Ponder Total: 2 x 2 Sideboard (so far) 3 x Ghostly prison 3 x Vedalken Shackles 3 x Lightning greaves

I think the concise answer is that R/W is not currently a winning color combination in Extended. Your controllish take on it is also not very aggressive, and lacks game against combo and control. I don't recommend shelling out money for the manabase this deck would need.
For a deck that's vaguely (and I mean vaguely) like your starting deck, check out Andre Coimbra's wacky build in the day two decks from GP Vienna.
This is, of course, all very metagame dependent. In the right environment, you might do well with a R/W deck featuring Lightning Helix , Wrath, Martyr of Sands , Oblivion Ring , Orim's Chant , and maybe Exalted Angel . The Chant is especially important, as it's your insurance against getting comboed out by TEPS, and it doubles in helping you not lose to aggro.
