Yea, I'm really liking the "core set as new design space" idea. New cards are always good, and making core sets more than just a recycling bin really makes them less "meh" then they generally are.

Holy Crap...I don't know what to say.
While I'm worried about the fate of some of my favorites ..I am incredibly pleased. Somehow you have tapped into the Eden of Core Set Design. New cards to keep the older guys happy, while remaining simple for the sake of the newer players. I must say, Wizards, you have checkmated my gamer's cynicism.
I really wish I knew what those new duals are, though...I fear the old "If ~ is tapped for (colored mana), then it doesn't untap during your next untap step."
Wow. Serra Angel is an uncommon. I just realized that.

No painlands, no shocklands? But new non-life consuming Duals? Wow.

I'm impressed. It's an excellent idea designed to bring in new players while keeping experienced players interested, and not one bit of BS. Just flat out "this is what we're doing and this is how we feel about it - and we think you'll feel the same way, too." Another one or two announcements like this (BS free) and I'll want to go back to buying the game. I really hope that happens because I very much want to go back to pouring most of my 'discretionary' income on a game I love.
This forum shouldn't have been made active until it was finished. There's just no excuse for this piece of garbage.

On the topic of duals: Maybe they'll finish the river of tears cycle? Or I could be wrong and they'll go for something completely different, maybe tap for green, tap for red if you have a forest in play?

So there are not going to be four-set min/mega blocks like Lorwyn/Shadowmoor? Am I understanding that correctly?
As far as the other changes go, I am open to their possibilities. One other question; will the new content be increasing to the total number of new cards printed each year? I seem to remember there being something about Wizards decreasing that number.

I like it. In fact I might even go as far to say I love it. Really brings back memories of when I first started playing Magic in 4th/5th edition.

Since Graven Cairns were taken we're left with the other 4.
