Chris wins the roll. I keep Crumbling Necropolis, Mountain, Mountain, Lightning Bolt, Anathemancer, Goblin Assault, and Volcanic Fallout. Chris plays a Secluded Glen showing me Bitterblossom and casts Thoughtseize. He bins my Volcanic Fallout. I draw another Lightning Bolt, play my Crumbling Necropolis, and pass. Chris plays a Sunken Ruins and casts Bitterblossom. I draw a Flame Javelin, play my Mountain, aim both Lightning Bolts at Chris' face, and pass the turn back to Chris. Chris goes to 13 during his upkeep, plays a Drowned Catacomb, and passes the turn. That seems a bit off to me tbh.
Why would he be at 13 at this point ?
Lets see in reverse: 13 -1 Bitterblossom -3 Lightning Bolt -3 Lightning Bolt -2 Thoughtsize that would be 22 life. Concerning in some way...

Black Red decks have been top8ing quite a bit(0 to 2 per contest) in the current metagame. I suppose this explains why.

He suggested at the end adding 4 Pulses. Any insight on how the deck can be reworked to include them?

He suggested at the end adding 4 Pulses. Any insight on how the deck can be reworked to include them? More Savage Lands and M10 Duals? Or do you mean what to remove? Tarfire seems anemic; everything else might be removing burn you'd want, so I guess playtest whether you can afford to have fewer Earthquake s or something.
Anyone know what his "Naya Solution" deck looks like?

Chris passes again and tries another Mistbind Clique during my upkeep. I aim the Javelin at his face, and he's forced to champion his Mistbind Clique and die to his newly returned Bitterblossom the next turn. Or he could chose not to champion the first Clique and just sacrifice the Clique he just cast?
Five-Color control doesn't have to be the dominant deck in the format. If you're looking to go a non-budget route I'd suggest playing a Jund deck that can support Maelstrom Pulse to deal with their Runed Halos. What a great format, "if you want a non-budget route to deal with Reflecting Pool control, try playing Reflecting Pool beatdown"

i play a decklist similar to this and one of my casual group wont stop ranting about how 4 blightning in one turn makes me the cheesiest player ever.( multiplayer king match where me and the king had a nice synergy for the guy playing too much draw.) and at my local tournament everyones head turned when my turn 3,4 and 5 plays where blightning, blightning+bolt, blightning+ hellspark. i got accused of deck stacking in a joking way after that, my opponent gave my deck 2 extra shuffles and a weird cut that left me keeping on 2 blightning, veinfire borderpost, mountain, swamp, mountain, bolt.
