In before complaints about how this article STILL doesn't adequately address the perceived problems with the rules changes. My complaint is that, if I had to boil this article down into two sentences, it would be "Here are the changes and how they work again. Go to the Prerelease!"
His brief foray into mentioning his own experiences, um, didn't say anything. They already pay other people to shill for the Prereleases. And a kicker at the end, well, I'm fine with that... when it's a kicker at the end of an article that felt like it needed to exist.
Probably just me.

i think a lot of people are stuck halfway between anger and bargaining.
and i'm glad he at least wrote the words "this is actually a very significant change" about lifelink, since i was starting to feel like i was the only one who cared at all.

I actually did notice that myself. It was mostly a repeat of yesterday's article. I found the section on how combat's different slightly interesting but it was a bit short.

Oh, no, I'm well past the "Acceptance" phase. Though the article, as written, certainly seems to imply that the only form of acceptance is deciding "Well, I got screwed over, but I'm gonna go ahead and stick it out until I get screwed over again.", instead of the form of acceptance that is "Well, this change isn't going to give, so no more point in sticking around."
(Seriously, though, I'm thankful for the rules changes. Without them, I would not have had the courage to... repurpose my finances to more entertaining means.)

I'm not sure if pumping toughness is strictly better now than it used to be when you could choose to pump a creature's toughness after damage was stacked, but it's definitely going to be better in a lot of situations. This is the really glaringly obvious evidence that he was forced to shill for his job. Toughness pumping (and damage prevention) is strictly worse than before. Period.

The fact that the final stage is acceptance, not happiness, says it all.
Wizards admits that stacking combat damage is being removed solely for the benefit of the new player. The perfect corollary to combat damage on the stack is the balk rule in baseball. The balk is far more complex and unintuitive than combat damage on the stack. Major League Baseball didn't eliminate th balk for the sake of the little leaguer. They gradually introduce it so that it will be understood when the player reaches the higher level. Wizards should do the same.
This is the first time that I have ever heard of a sport or game becoming less complex at the highest level for the sake of new players. It is a shame that Wizards is blatantly ignoring the cries of its loyal fanbase in a foolish attempt to garner a slightly greater profit.
It seems greed is everywhere.
