Just based on the title, methinks this is going to be a defense of the rule changes, or more rule changes/further information Either that, or a generic product announcement

It should be the B&R announcement. I will be bracing for "No changes."
But there is a circulating rumor with circumstantial evidence that a certain card is getting the axe in Legacy. I wouldn't really mind seeing that one go either way.

I don't play vintage, but can anyone tell me why Thirst for Knowledge is getting restricted? On the upside, this just adds more to the Mirrodin pile of brokenness.

wait what, they're unrestricting a fast mana source and giving vintage back Englightened tutor as a four-of?
and giving us back crop rotation?
and entomb?
You're giving us a lot of good, cheap tutors and fast mana acceleration?
buhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?

I don't play vintage, but can anyone tell me why Thirst for Knowledge is getting restricted? From what I have read I can gather that WotC has an internal list of cards they will absolutely not restrict in Vintage no matter what happens. The list as I understand it
Show
Force of Will Mana Drain Bazaar of Baghdad Mishra's Workshop Dark Ritual Past these cards they just seem to be watching for what people see as the next best draw spell. Once it is established, they restrict it. TFK wasn't a problem, it was just a staple. Next for the chopping block: probably Mystic Remora. Or maybe even Strategic Planning.

OK, wow, I did not see Crop Rotation and Entomb coming.
Crop Rotation...I'm just hearing the siren song of Bazaar of Baghdad and it's saying "break me, break me!" I guess 4x Bazaar AND 4x Serum Powder wasn't enough.
Entomb...they definitely want Dragon back in the metagame.

so what do you think this will do to the price of Enlightened Tutor...I have 8 of them I was going to sell with some other things I don't have the firepower to play extended or legacy for the next 7 years so clearing out and making room for new things is logical

I don't play vintage, but can anyone tell me why Thirst for Knowledge is getting restricted? Because Thirst has been a staple draw engine in many dominant Blue decks since it's printing: Control Slaver, Gifts, Bomberman, Tezz, ect; Wizards wants it to be impossible to consistenly find other broken blue cards.

Crop rotation for Tolarian Academy could be good... I splashed green in my Academy deck solely for the one copy of Crop Rotation I could play (as well as 4x Tree of Tales :D). 4x Crop Rotation doesn't sound too bad... :evillaugh
Even as a worst case scenario, they can be used as Mind Over Matter fodder.

Why do they keep nerfing blue card draw? I can understand brainstorm, but ponder seems a little weird because it is worse without brainstorm but adding Thirst for Knowledge to the banned list on top of ponder and brain storm seems ridiculous. Is blue really still really that broken?

Mostly, it's that Mana Drain is that broken.

Is blue really still really that broken? In the right deck, Thirst For Knowledge reads 'draw 3 cards, discard target broken artifact and activate goblin welder.' It's OK in the tezzeret deck too, which is dominant right now. I could see why they'd restrict it.

Is Crop Rotation maybe a little bit worse with the removal of floating mana between phases? I, personally, never did that, so I don't know if it was a significant contributor to it's power or not
