So if a player has a creature with kinship like ink dissolver and I have drowner of secrets, he uses ink dissolver to show top card, I tap my drowner to move his top card into the graveyard, do I counter his ability since the creature with the shared creature type is no longer on top? Or, does the revealing card still trigger ink dissolver since its already on the stack?

Either you play the 'Mill' ability before or after the Trigger resolves.
Once they look at the Card, the ability has begun to resolve. You can not play any Spells/Abilities until after the ability resolves.
