I once skipped 3 hours of a Halloween party to play in Form of the Vanguard, pictured in this arcana. We're doing "Form of the General" this year with an EDH group game, and I would gladly miss a party for the amount of fun we had.

I work in the sports media industry. I recently declined a coverage for a dragonboat event in Boracay, one of the loveliest beaches here in the Philippines, for the ARB pre-release. sand, sea, surf and babes! ha! :P

I left my wife at the altar to make it to a pre-release.

Nah, I'm joking. She was also in labor.

What is the most interesting thing I've ever passed up to play Magic? Probably personal security. I used to go to the prerelease tournaments any time I could find a ride to one (which was usually), and if I hadn't found a ride home -- well, I figured I'd probably find a ride back and not be stranded in a town with no local friends.

That trend actually continued when I started judging, lol. I'd find someone who was leaving "late" and was willing to give me a ride home. It's rather amazing how generous the people are. (It's also amazing that nobody killed me, but surprisingly our players really like their judges).

I almost missed the birth of my first child due to a Magic event. I was all set to walk out the door to go to the Mercadian Masques Prelease, when my wife told me she wasn't feeling too well. Two hours later, our baby boy was born. (Yes, she has very quick labors, thank goodness.)

I really wanted to go, but something told me I should stick around. Good thing I did!

I missed two Release events because of having to stay late at work.

Who the Hell admits new patients on a Friday afternoon?! (My former employer, apparently.)

Mostly, when I skip something to play Magic, it's me avoiding "quality time" with my in-laws to hang out at Millennium Games in Rochester, NY.

Entertaining misspelling of the word 'desert' in the Dave Williams section. :D
