Heh. Kinda entertaining. I can see why "you" cringed at some of the cliches, but I can also appreciate a genre-conscious dragged-into-fantasy-land story

The story was kinda nice, though.

Loved it, man. by the way, has anyone noticed how the art on Bloodbraid Elf's card looks blurred? Every time I look at it it annoys me...

Holy ****, that was an awesome story! Doesn't Doug Beyer write Magic novels? Never have I read the work of someone who more demonstrates the phrase "Paints a picture with words." Seriously, Doug, you need to give us more stories. They're totally awesome. Also, Nissa Revane's card being in Zendikar? Now we know for sure she has her own card, so let's start the inevitable speculation of her abilities. Also, does anyone get the feeling that her card from Zendikar might be the one, or one of the ones, that we get in the Planar decks? *IF* this is true, then I think we *might* have a connection between Zendikar and Alara. Also, I lol'd at the mention of the altered art of Nissa's clothing.:D

I really liked this article, the story really got me intrigued and i think i will be buying some of the novels for a little more of the story behind the cards. I'm really looking forward to Zendikar and seeing all the new creatures and spells and abilities. Might even show up for a pre-release event who knows lol.

Nissa's original art will remain wherever her card appears—on her card in the Duels game, in Magic Online, and of course in booster packs of Zendikar. I guess we'll maybe see the card in Duels? Assuming it's not in DLC or something.

Wow, I've bagged on Beyer for ages, but this is yet another giant leap for him in my eyes. Love these types of stories, lampshades and all. And as far as the artwork edit goes, remember what South Park taught us (slightly paraphrased): "Horrific and deplorable violence are okay, as long you don't say any naughty words, or show a natural part of human anatomy."

Too bad Bloodbraid Elf's art is terrible. Every time I see it, I can't help but hate it a little more. Seriously, why does her nose and mouth take up up half her face? She has the Joker's lips, too; they stretch way too long.
Loved it, man. by the way, has anyone noticed how the art on Bloodbraid Elf's card looks blurred? Every time I look at it it annoys me... Have you ever looked closely at Angel of Retribution ? There is an obvious scan blur from when they shrunk it down. It makes the card look awful.

Re Angel of Retribution , I'm sure there was an Ask Wizards answer about the blurry art on some of the white cards in Torment. The original hi-res art got lost, IIRC, and the cards got printed from scaled thumbnails. Yes, here it is: 26th February 2002.
