I don't know what I would think if I saw that happen, but if I knew exactly what you were thinking, I would have to think that falls into cheating in the misrepresenting/not fair play sort of situation. And this may be true. You must always have an alibi. And it's got to be good.
"Pithing Needle, MUTAVAULT...isagreatcardWAIT! Were you going to have a response to it hitting play?"

If I was playing seismic with lethal in hand and the opponent play a pithing needle, regardless of what his chosen target is I would activate the assault and not take the risk.

Better way to do it: "Pithing Needle, Mut-- wait did you want to do something?"

 Might work too. Better even.
And to Beanman1000: I know. The situation I gave is one where the opponent would just lose some draw, but I would in response anyhow. This is only to trick amateurs.

I was x-2 with insane breaks playing the last round. The third game went to time and we were discussing the merits of scooping to each other. With no resolve being made, I made a comment to the tune of "whats the incentive for me scooping?"
He took the bait and offered product for the concession, I called a judge, he got DQ'd. Then.... I got 9th.
Shrug.

Wow that really is a jerk move. But then again he was really dumb for offering product, too.

I once played a deck running nothing but discard, LD, and removal. Whoever was piloting that thing had to be some sort of evil genius.
Lets see, I once played a game where the only thing I drew was removal; O-ring, Path to Exile and Banefire. It was absolutly epic, every turn he played these big, bulky creatures like the U/R demigod and Nicol Bolas, and I just kept playing O-ring, Banefire and Path to kill them, then blocking the survivors with little 0/1 goats. He folded just as I had gained complete control of the board.

Playing in a 8 player game where it was suppose to be all elf decks but I forgot mine but they decided to let me in so 3rd turn I played Necroskitter and 4th turn played Soul Snuffers instantly robbing everyone of their masses of elves and Llanowar elves and putting them under my control.

Haha nice.
I like skitter. Particularly in multiplayer.

Somone used oblivion ring on my thornling. I drop another thornling. They drop another oblivion ring. In response, I path to exile my thornling and get a land. Their oblivion ring then resolves, and it's only legal target is the other oblivion ring, which gives me back my first thornling. What made it a jerk move was that I could have countered the second oblivion ring, and I just made the entire play for show.
