I'd like to say "hi" to the guy that kept arguing that Gwafa Hazid and Rakka Mar had to be mythics because they were legendary in Monday's MaRo discussion thread.
Sorry bro.

I personally can understand why these two would be rare and not mythic. To me, mythic was always something you would see maybe once in your life as a Planeswalker. Whether that Mythic in question happens to be the most respected knight on the plane, or a gigantic Hydra that was the embodiment of a Plane or whatever.
Gwafa and Razid both seem to be people on the go, so it would make sense that someone would have a better chance of running into them at some point.
On a non-flavor stand point though, i think its a little more obvious why they are not Mythic. I know if my small chance at a Mythic card was a girl who made longer-lasting spark elementals or a guy who paid for Pacifisms, I'd be a little upset.
2 cents>

2 cents> Well, the new rarities also want to split the "utility" from the "flavor" by making the more useful legends in general as normal rares. It's certainly interesting.

Sorry bro. Which was, of course, related to information lacking from Spoilers (from which other arguers were using to "trump" the information). Hey, I admit I was wrong, not that I said they WERE mythics, but I did try to argue for the existence of missing mythics based on the previews and knowledge that some legends were absent. It happens.

To be honest I think both cards are pretty unexciting, Rakka could have some uses since she allready has haste and a cheap activation cost - can´t be that hard to abuse. But for Gwafa Hazid - its a shame that he needs to be in play to "pacify" those creatures. The moment your opponent draws the removal for this guy you provided him with free card advantage. Since their legends, and shouldn´t come up often in limited formats its easy to imagine making them mythic. But on the other hand they aren´t really impressive enough for a myhtic rare, are they?

The moment your opponent draws the removal for this guy you provided him with free card advantage. My thoughts exactly. And everytime you use this guy, your opponent gets a chance to draw into removal.
I think two mana, tap AND giving away a card is a bit too much to pay for a worse pacifism. Not Mythic, and I wonder if it should be rare.
Is this guy a nephew of Soldevi Sentry ?

If it was a permanent affect then it might have some uses in Limited...as it is, I'm not even sure that it's good there.
Anyway, regarding the Letter of the Week:
I found the 'non-black' clause on Executioner's Capsule a bit odd as well, though for different reasons. Why would an Executioner use a weapon that could only kill 2/3 of his intended victims? Think about it, in our society, if 1/3 the people of death's row didn't actually die. People would be a lot more carefree about heinous crimes such as molestation and murder, because they'd look at the punishment and say 'You know, all of these people didn't die, why should I?' Not only that, but from the flavor text it seems to me that it is also used as an Assassin's weapon-which makes even less sense. If you're trying to kill somebody, why would you give them a warning, use a device that worked 66% of the time rather than 100% of the time. It makes little sense to me.
Thanks, Hdier
