I do realise that SoA is not on MTGO yet, but it would have been nice to see how this deck played out against, perhaps, Jacob's crew??

i know usually BoaB decks are mainly fun decks but it would have been cool to have seen it being tested out.

That said, i do like the synergy this deck offers, and i ALSO love the fact he showed how it could possibly be upgraded to tournament worth with a few staple rares in the deck.

Still, Jacob, only flaw...show some testing with the decks you propose...

For the record, the minimum number of players for a sanctioned tournament is eight; for my local store (and I expect most others), running tournaments is always profitable, so their only question is going to be when you want to run the tournament (remember the store has other things going on too).

I've been looking at Jund. I never did like Warhammer much, but I have so many lying around from Mirrodin I might as well try it sometime. I will admit it wins some games all by its lonesome self -- well, almost.

As for testing, I've seen a fair number of "sacrifice me" decks lately, and it looks like it's mostly replacing Time Spiral losses with Shards cards. The deck lost Gargadon, Mogg Warmarshal, and probably a few things I'm forgetting.

I'm 99% sure that the Flitter's triggered ability, when returned to play with Torrent of Souls, means that the Flitter gets +2/+0 and haste, but that the tokens it produces will not, since they come into play after the spell resolves. Anybody got the last 1% I need with the technicalities? Something about continuous effects only applying to cards in play, or something (like with Infest followed by a creature)?

I'm pretty sure this is correct.

All the creatures that are in play while the spell resolves get the bonus and the haste, and then after the spell resolves the trigger is allowed to put the tokens on the stack.

Also: Profane is at what, 2 tickets on MTGO? Wouldn't that make sense:
And, once we add green for enhanced token-ey goodness, doesn't it make sense to just call it a rock variant?

[s]edit: I mean, it's not like you'd want more than 2 anyways, since they have a projected cmc of 5 or 6. The fact that they're so flexible and are almost as good as Torrent of Souls recursing plus directing pain is impressive.[/s]

second edit: It's back up again in price in the real world? Wow, that shot up again. It was so easy to get them for a while there, after the 'the set is out!' rare frenzy died.

The article was fun and gave me some good ideas. I want to echo the sentiment that it would have been better with a few games played, but perhaps after you've done a deck for each shard you can get some guys there to play them all against each other and see which ones are the best.

Nice article and deck! Predator Dragon is the way to go in that kind of deck. Is it just me or do 26 lands look like too much?

I have a bunch of tokens in play and my opponent decides to tap out and play Chameleon Colossus and Tarmogoyf.

followed by

Slaughter Pact is no longer Standard legal.

Ummm...neither is Tarmogoyf.

Setting aside that nitpick, I can see myself making an B/R/G EDH deck (ooh, maybe with a Hellkite Overlord as general) and putting these elements into it for some death by tokens. Overall, I'm enjoying your articles, Jacob.

26 lands does seem like a lot, particularly when none of them cycle, attack, or do other cool stuff. The mana seems like Jacob really really wants to play that turn 6 Predator Dragon. But if you flooded out and don't have a lot of guys in play on turn 6, the dragon doesn't look quite as good.

Is it really worth including Predator Dragon? Is Mycoloth too expensive or color intensive?
