No wonder you got kicked upstairs, Aaron. You can BS like some of the best marketers I've ever met.
No seriously, as banal and empty as these cheerleader pieces tend to be, I didn't see anything that seemed sneaky, sleazy, insulting, dishonest, or outrageous. Maybe it helps that my expectations have been lowered, but I was expecting to read something like "we're dropping booster packs from 15 cards to 12. And doing it all to benefit you!"
So this simple rundown is perfectly inoffensive, and it keeps MaRo from having to do it. Nothing wrong with that.

My guess is the Live block will have a dark-gothic feel and will use the Delve mechanic.

Maybe it's the Emo block.

We had enough gothness in Shadowmoor/Eventide, don'tcha think? What was Gothic about Shadowmoor/Eventide??? Seriously, hobbits with yellow eyes is Gothic to you???
Maybe it's the Emo block. If so, it will mean I left the game just in time!

We had enough gothness in Shadowmoor/Eventide, don'tcha think? Umm, not really, it had a dark, eerie atmosphere but far from gothic.

In July comes Magic's next Core Set which promises its fair share of surprises. This one line will make at least one player I know exceedingly happy, as he'd heard Core Sets were getting the axe in some unfounded rumor. It's good to see he was misinformed -- there was concern that, with no core set old, cards would have no value.

While I'm ordinarily the person who is telling people not to expect the worst just because WotC says there are changes afoot - we have no clue what the 'surprises' are that are coming with 11th Edition. Remember, WotC now knows that newbies don't much buy the Core sets, so making them the iconic or simplistic cards no longer has them as a foundation for doing so. Remember Coldsnap? The 'Core Set' may become something along those lines - the "what we'd have done for set X if we knew then what we know now" sort of thing.
Who knows? None of us, that's for sure.

After Conflux comes Alara Reborn—set three in the block—at the end of April. Alara Reborn, lead designed by yours truly and lead developed by Matt Place, has a real jaw-dropping hook that we've never done before that is sure to make the set one of the all-time memorable ones. For the love of Pete, wedges.
