I like the Jhoira deck -- very inspired use of the cards. Thanks!

Do you know what Marsh Flitter , Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder and Sakura-Tribe Elder all have in common?
Reveillark , that's what. Just saying.

Great article as always.

Personally, I'm just disappointed how, after pointing out that " Jhessian Infiltrator and Tidehollow Sculler are simple upgrades of casual all-stars Gaea's Skyfolk and Mesmeric Fiend ", he neglected to mention that Necrogenesis , despite being the card he was focusing on, is itself an upgraded Night Soil . Being someone who basically "grew up" on Fallen Empires when it comes to Magic, I used to have a lot of fun with that card.

Keldon Marauders and Paradox Haze? Keldon Marauders is already going to have a tough time dealing "a load of damage" in a deck with practically no removal. Put down Paradox Haze and they don't even get to swing.

I know these are meant to be casual decks, but that doesn't mean they can't be fundamentally sound. Three red and/or black decks and practically no real removal to be found, especially in the first two, with some pretty weak stuff in the third one. Week after week your designs seem to fail to account for the fact that there's someone across the table from you also trying to win. I know these decks aren't meant to be all about winning, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. Incinerate, Char, Terror, Putrefy, Last Gasp, something. There's more to playing Magic than goldfishing.

Whoohoo! A Magic player that goes back as far as me!

I also cut my teeth on Fallen Empires (well... Revised and the Dark, but Thallids was the first cohesive deck I ever built) and Night Soil was the first thing that sprang to mind when I saw Necrogenesis . It's definitely a great upgrade.
