Big update to the guide. Added a ton of updated decklists, removed the pointless jargon about animal elements, cut a lot of the cards that I wouldn't actually play myself and more. As always, looking for feedback (be it positive or negative) about how I could further improve the guide.

Hey Tich, was just looking this over real quick to see if you had anything on some of the new stuff. I'm pretty sleep deprived ATM but I think you mention Darkness twice in the comments for other cards but never by itself. It's one of my favorite cards cards to cast as few people expect it, though Sudden Spoiling has changed this a bit.

Eh, I need to update the conatent of these guides pretty badly. It's just so much work though, so I tend to put it off a lot. I can't remember the last time I've wanted to play Darkness or saw a deck that should use the card. Stopping 1 attack from 1 opponent once isn't very powerful. Sudden Spoiling is... fine... but it's also pretty bad. I dunno, I'd rather trim down this guide if anything. There's too many cards on it, and a lot of them probably aren't in the S-C tiers. Lots of Ds and Fs that I wouldn't really touch.

Eh, I feel like any (EDH/Multiplayer) game that doesn't end with someone combo-ing out to kill everyone get to a 1-on-1 state which is where something like Darkness/Sudden Spoiling really shines. I do get what you're saying, Darkness is not for everyone, but for those that can maximize it's value and see it as a political tool it can do great things.
That and it's an a spell outside it's common color-pie so you can catch some players with it. *shrug*
It stood out mostly because you mentioned it in the comment of other cards but not on it's own.
As always, much respect Tich, ~Rae~

I didn't explain my argument very well so I'll make it much more clear this time. I would never play more than 4 "Fogs" in multiplayer and I would never use Darkness over Sudden Spoiling. Even though Darkness is cheaper, Spoiling has much more potential to be a devastating blowout. I don't want to add cards to the guide that I wouldn't play, and I wouldn't play Darkness because Sudden Spoiling exists. I hope that helps to explain things more clearly. It's not that the card is inherently unplayable, it's simply that the alternative is much stronger.
For what it's worth I'm notoriously opposed to anything "politically charged." Anything can be used a political tool. Fogs, removal, creatures, draw spells, pump, everything can be used to help or hinder others. As such, being a "political card" isn't compelling enough to catch my eye. The way I see it people don't need my help to be political. That's something that you can do on your own. What people want out of me are examples of powerful cards and strategies to employ. You can be as devious and cunning as you want, but that's pretty useless if you have Giant Spider s that are facing down Forgotten Ancient s. I want people to look at the cards in my guides and go "that's cool, I want to play with that!" I'll let the politics come naturally.

Hey Tich.. great guide. I realize this hasn't been responded to in quite awhile but I was thinking of making a demon deck thats mono-black. I like demon cards like Reiver Demon , Rune-Scarred Demon , and Reaper from the Abyss . Only problem is they are expensive cards to get out which made me want to play some kind of disruptive play early game.. cards like Barter in Blood or Killing Wave or Smallpox . I liked some of the cheaper mana cards like Reassembling Skeleton and Abyssal Gatekeeper . I think Altar's Reap combos well with these two for some draw, and then maybe Bloodgift Demon and Harvester of Souls for some more draw. I'm just not really sure if a deck like this would work or if it would be too split up on what it is trying to do. I think a Cabal Coffers would be needed to play this type of deck as well. I'd probably want to use drains as well for the main win condition like Exsanguinate or Blood Tithe . I know a pure drain would be more effective but I have a deck similar to that so I don't really want to make a pure life drain deck and I've always wanted to make a potent demon deck but realize it's tough to do due to the high mana cost on most demons. Think it would be possible to make it work?
