The lack of 2hg at all store-run prereleases in the Massachusetts area makes me very, very sad. Smaller prereleases slow firing rate of flights as well, so I'm not sure how well the localization arguments hold up against the black god of queueing. Combine this with the usually limited space of a store and you may have severe supply shortages. Only time will tell, I suppose.

Yeah, I'm sad about the 2HG thing as well. I'll probably try to go to the large prerelease to play 2HG there, but the decentralization may reduce the number of players below the necessary amount.

personally im hoping to pull a second Ajani, or get a Tezzeret. maybe even any other mythic:D then again any card worth 2xs the value of a rare will leave card traders wheeling but i do have to say, this was helpful. ive only been to releases so far, so Shards is going to be my first pre-rel. wish me luck, and see you on the Shards! :P

Hehehe... I live in New Zealand, roughly 17 hours ahead of America (I know there are like five time zones, its a rough approximation). My point is, we'll be opening the new sets first :D I'm really looking forward to the pre-release, and apparently its going to kick off at 12.00 am on the 27th. Anyhows though, I wish everyone good luck on their drafts P.S. Jund for the win, Resounding Thunder

This use of cycling makes me a sad, sad owl. ;<>
Cycling is about throwing away an unneeded card to get a new one.
The ability on the "resounding" cards is not cycling. It's just a templating excuse. You're paying more to get a bigger effect. Drawing a card is trivial and unnecessary. The main feature of cycling is completely overshadowed and irrelevant here.
This same ability could be done more appropriately with kicker, or even better - as a split card. Alternatively, it could just be written on the card - "You may play this spell for 5CDE." and "[Normal effect]. If you spent 5CDE to pay for this spell, [bigger effect] instead."

The burn spell is good and the cycling cost is going to be a trap for most new players. Sure, it will be amazing late game ripping this with all the right mana open but many newer players will hold onto it too long and, very likely, cost them the game. So, it's a good skill tester. I like it.

Does this guy always refer to himself as an owl?
Edit for content: I think that 8cmc is just about too much for any card, really. That's just prohibitively high. On the other hand, 6 dmg and a card can be a game-changer if you're in a position where you have eight mana and you're not already winning. Also, there look to be some stupid acceleration in this set, albeit not in those colors.

Does this guy always refer to himself as an owl? Others refer to me as "your highness" or "O mighty owl". :>

Also, there look to be some stupid acceleration in this set, albeit not in those colors. The problem with a big effect for eight mana is that you have to get eight mana or it's useless. However, because this spell can be played for three mana, it's actually fairly strong. I think you'll see these being played for eight mana about a third of the time. \:>
