Woo-hoo for high-res art and all, but this was pretty insubstantial, no?

Agent Smith yah. As for the letter of the week, I agree on several levels. Most of all, the whole "omg world ending" plot gets old. I would love to see a plane that gets treated like a real world. Set up some plot and rivalries (orcs vs elves for example), and let things go from there. Perhaps the latest peace agreement has been violated, and a group of people try to track down the cause (in the books) while the cards display each race gearing up for war. The first thing I thought of here was to have the "twist" be some sort of interference by a planeswalker, and the group of "heroes" is attempting to convince everyone else to just shut up and listen for a second. I think that came out sloppy, but what I'm saying is the entire block doesn't have to be an apocalyptic event, and even "normal" life can be interesting to some degree. After all, most fantasy books have plots revolving around a classic "big evil guy" more than doomsday devices. Sure the big evil guy may be evil, but eventually his reign would have ended anyway - it's just a matter of when. :/ I think I just did it again. That wasn't very clear. Ah well.
When the forums were first changed (not upgraded) I started compiling a list of legitimate complaints. Some of these problems have been addressed, but if you have anything to contribute, please see this thread: LINKWant a free, graphic-based, customizable collection database to inventory your cards? I made one. Feedback welcome. Beta 4.3 (including Worldwake) is now available! Program runs offline from any directory/hard drive, includes art, data import/export options, complete Oracle text, and a complete list of every printing of every card.

Lorwyn wasn't being doomsdayed. In the cards, neither was Ravnica.

Furthermore, we will return to previously-established planes. It is in the plan. You're right that there is plenty of room left over on many of Magic's planes to explore more deeply in a future block—and not just Dominaria. Will we see the return of Mirrodin in Alara?

I loved the letter of the week and response at the end of the article. Its cool to know that they are going to go back to some one off planes. It would be really neat to see the Kamigawa Spirit war or its fallout from the point of view of a western culture or another area of Lorwyn during the switch based around a different set of folk tales.

Will we see the return of Mirrodin in Alara? Nope.
Anyway I prefer world hoping. It makes it easier for my mind as Doug said. I can really only call Dominaria the "Big world". Other than that it is too eclectic to be called something. It should be noted that I am fine with staying in the same world if it keeps it's core. Say Ravnica which is completely city would be fine to return too as it couldn't be anything but City World

Regarding the letter of the week:
Isn't that exactly what Odyssey and Onslaught blocks did? Otaria was a little tucked-away corner of post-Apocalypse-with-a-capital-A Dominaria.
